My tv's standby light blinks once when i turn it on and I never get any display. It seems to try and come on, but power off again.

it could be a week power board, check the capacitors on the power board and that look like they have a rounded top will need replacing, this is a common fault, over time they just wear out for use, replace with same rating on the capacitors, make sure they are 105c type.

My alba tv will not come on the stand by button is keep flashing blue slowly

Hi Tony,
The power supply section of your tv seems to be having problem. If lucky, you may find some electrolytic capacitors responsible. Good luck.

Neither the remote or power on/off switch works to turn on

I'm assuming you tv doesn't turn on but you have the red light indicating power , it's possible you have more than a faulty switch , common fault is the power board has blown one or a few capacitors , you could try replacing the power board on the tv but some tvs will not start if there are other faults , namely faulty inverter , faulty power board , if the display is faulty , it'll be cheaper to buy a new tv

Why does volume go off on 32inch tv

Check the speaker/s first. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. Powering on and off everycouple minutes

This really depends on the make and model of the TV you are referring to. More than likely one or both of two things are happening. 1) There is a fan out causing the TV to get too hot and a safety switch is shutting it down to protect the TV from further damage. Or. 20 there is a bad safety switch telling the TV has an issue when it really does not. Another thing that could be going on .... It seems modern TVs have a tendency to burn out capacitors and bad capacitors will cause this behavior as well.

Your best bet is to use Google to search for common problems with your specific brand and model of TV. Also look for flashing lights on the front of the TV that may be blinking in patterns, these patterns may tell you what the problem is. ie; 3 blinks bad fan or 4 blinks bulb not seated properly etc.

Alba tv wont turn on

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

Kdl32w4000 I switch on then tv switches off then I get flashing red light, anyone know the problem?

Hi.

The TV switching itself off with the red light is not a "common problem" it is the way the fault mode tries to tell you that there is a problem. As the internal fault is detected, the TV gets switched off to prevent more damage to internal components.

The TV starts in forced standby. The state is also called "Protect Mode". Protect mode kicks in whenever an internal fault is detected. The error is detected by controller circuit and the PSU is forced in standby mode, shutting down all voltage lines apart 5VDC to keep standby on.

First try disconnecting the power cord for ten minutes, reconnect after ten minutes and restart the TV with no device connected.

If that does not help it means that there is an internal fault and that the TV must be tested and repaired replacing the defective part.

The defective part is usually the PSU. Among components that fail quite commonly there are the capacitors on the power board. If the capacitors look swollen or if there is trace of damage on PSU board, then the affected parts must be de-soldered and replaced. If there is no evidence of damage at a glance the parts must be tested using a multimeter and following schematics from service manual.

If you need to call a technician use the phone number listed on the owners manual or on the manufacturer support web page.

Regards.
