DO NOT LOOK AT AN OPERATING LASER INSIDE A CD PLAYER OR DVD MACHINE; DOING SO CAN DAMAGE YOUR EYES!

ANY OF THE BELOW DESCRIBED PROCEDURES MIGHT DAMAGE YOUR EQUIPMENT MORE THAN IT IS, SO PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK SO I AM NOT ACTUALLY RECOMMENDING THEM :

Often, in cases like this, the focusing lens for the laser is dirty or out of alignment. I don't know how good you are with tools and electronics, but one often has to take out the dvd player to reach the lens directly to clean it. You'd have to be very careful not to scratch the lens or leave any lint, even a tiny hair; you can also knock the movable trolly out of alignment.

I've had good luck with a bit of 90% rubbing alcohol and a cue tip, but some say you need special cleaner. Sometimes a blast of compressed air from one of those cans specially designed for cleaning electronics parts is enough to do the job.

If you can see the lens and you have a long enough red plastic tube that comes with the can you may be able to blast it clean without disassembly. Note that there is a focusing lens and a laser with a lens on it; both often need cleaning, but the lower lens is generally inaccessible without significant disassembly.

Lastly, there are a number of good DVD and CD repair hints for this exact problem because it's fairly common and the fix is generic. You can find these on the web with Google, Just type in key words like " DVD Can't read disc error", or something similar.

GOOD LUCK!

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

Do you have the owner's manual?

If not, you can download it at www.curtisint.com at the support section search for "Manuals And Downloads" thumbnail at the top of the site, and then, search
for your model in the manual catalog as DVD 2100 and download it! It's in PDF format and you will need Adobe Reader if you don't have it, download it from www.adobe.com/reader .

For your solution:

- open your manual at P-35 GENERAL SETTINGS - "Restore Factory Settings".
- With the remote control, press "SETUP" and you should see a menu box with:

1- General Settings
2- Playback Settings
3- Record Settings
4- Language Settings
5- Channel Scan
6- Clock Settings

- Choose the General settings and then go to "Restore Factory Settings"

Restore Factory Settings
1. In the General Settings menu, use the or button to select
the Restore Factory Settings item and press the SELECT
button. The OSD will display as follows.
2. Use the or button to select OK .
3. Press the SELECT button to restore all default settings.
When your unit doesn't work properly, it may probably result
from some wrong settings. Please try the Restore Factory
Setting function to see if the unit can restore to its normal

I hope that will help you! If you need more details, don't hesitate to e-mail me!

First, try playing a regular music CD and see if that works. Next step would be to get a laser lens cleaner disc and run that in the machine. They come in both CD and DVD styles. You most likely won't get a DVD version to work since it's not reading DVDs, but you might get lucky and get a CD version to work, thus the reason for trying a music CD in the player.

If the cleaning doesn't work, or you can't play a CD either, then something has most likely died. There are really only two things that could go wrong with a DVD player, either the spindle motor (spins the disc) dies, or the laser dies. Both are somewhat common problems on low-end electronics. They can be fixed, but with low-end units, like those made by Curtis, it would cost you less to toss it out and buy a new unit.

Home theater is not reading MP4 Files . how to resolve this issues

For every format (MP4 is not one, but dozens of formats and no standard) you need a player, or on a computer a setting in a program. A DVD player, only can play one format, a DVD format. Actually it is even a coded format. When you have a MP4 file, you should encode it to to the DVD format and then but it to a DVD, before you try to play it in a DVD player. Try reading some articles about video formats on Wikipedia, when it is interesting enough for you to understand different Video (and Audio) formats.

Will DVD Players play MP4 files?

As we know, most old DVD players only support DVD video on DVD disc, they cannot play any video file not to mention MP4 file. Later, some DVD players can play video files on DVD disc. Even later, many DVD players come with USB ports, users can attach USB drive to it, and it can search and play video files on it. However, the video formats they support are very limited. Because DVD video is some kind of MPEG-2 video, this format is supported by nearly all DVD players. MP4 is newer than AVI format, some players doesn't support MP4 but support AVI. Hence, to play MP4 on DVD Players, we suggest you convert MP4 file to DVD-Players-sensible formats like the MPEG or AVI format.

To solve this issue, read this guide: http://www.faasoft.com/articles/can-dvd-players-play-mp4.html

Have a curtis tv , trying to run autoscan, it runs, but it doesn't locate any channels. I have a comcast converter box also. Not sure why autoscan isn't working. Or do I have to set up my comcast...

For the auto scan to detect there must be channels present on the CABLE that is connected to the RF input- TUNER INPUT- of the TV.
So check with your cable operator for the channels and you can connect. however if you are using a digital box then the channels are memorised on the box as only the output of the box is connect to the video/audiop inputs of the TV. if so select line in/video 1/2.

My LG DVD palyer will not play Windows Media 7

Hi,its obvious from your problem that both windows media 7 and mpeg video formats are not compatible with your dvd player,as you know, the windows media 7 is a very recent media player which is compatible with only very few dvd players so its not a defect with your dvd player, however you can go through your manual to see the list of video formats supported by your dvd player.
Thanks and take care

Playing recordable dvd

My Emerson won't play anything except DVD Movies, never has, wasn't suppose too. Make your movies in DVD Video format and it will read them fine (unless it's broke). I make movies all the time and play them back in mine. It reads DVD-R, DVD+R, and in duel layered. It will not read RW disks!

Man I've every problem you can imagine with DVD Players. I've found when the disk gets stuck, as long as it's not jammed. You can turn the unit off or unplug it. Plug it back in but DON'T TURN IT ON! Instead hit the eject button and the drive should open the drive without trying to read the disk.

DVD player cant read DVD media

.Vob files contain audio, video and subtitles all together. However, most MPEG-2-capable DVD players don't support subtitle tracks. I guess your DVD player is in the mentioned majority. That's why you can only play them in your computer drive.
