This toshiba only can get maximum 160 GB on HDD that's why it didnot recognize the HDD that you bougth
You have to change to boot order in the bios settings, it is currently trying to boot from a network drive, it needs to be set to the HDD you just installed.
Boot order should be set to boot from CD/DVD drive first, then HDD second
Access bios by pressing F1 or ESC at power up.
Do you have the XP/Vista install disc in the CD/DVD drive, if not the system will then try HDD, if no OS present it will then go to network boot resulting in your exact error code.
Disable the network boot option. open CD/DVD drive wipe any dust from the laser using a cotton bud or something similar, insert disc and retry. Do you still get same error?

Are you sure sir...it does recognize the 320GB hard drive I put in by name...is it still too big for it?

I have both the recovery disc and the Windows XP disc..it would not recognize them both
