Needle old or bent, incorrect size. Incorrect thread for material, packed with lint. The sewing foot is not on correctly or the needle is not pushed in high enough. Old thread. Hope this helps.

if you adjust that setting, check that the needle goes into the needle plate the exact same distance front to back on both the right and left side. Also, be careful not to change the height when changing the twist.

Sounds like either the bobbin case tension is too light or is not in the tension at all.

Consult your manual for how to place the thread in the tension and retry. Increase the bobbin case tension if necessary.

The top tension may be set too high.

SOURCE: Whenever I zig zag my machine skips stitches.

Hello,
Try these solutions.

* Re-thread your needle
It may be threaded incorrectly (backwards).

* Reinsert your needle
Make sure it goes all the way into the holder and that it’s positioned correctly – usually with the
flat side away from the bobbin, but consult your machine’s manual to be sure.

*Change your needle
Your needle may be blunt, bent, or otherwise damaged.

*Your fabric may require a different needle. Generally, heavier fabrics require larger needles and
thinner fabrics, smaller needles. You may also need a larger needle if
you’re sewing through many layers of fabric. And make sure to use a ballpoint needle for knit fabrics and a sharp needle for wovens (or a universal needle for either).
And make sure your needle is appropriate for the type of thread you’re using.

* Adjust the pressure of your pressure foot
It may be too light for your fabric.

* Change your thread
If your upper thread and bobbin threads are different types, try using the same thread for
both. And use a good quality, brand name thread.

* Adjust your thread tension
It may be too tight or too loose.

* Re-thread your machine
It may be threaded incorrectly.

* Change your needle plate
Try switching to a needle plate with a smaller hole (a straight stitch needle plate).

Important: If you change your needle plate, check to make sure your needle aligns perfectly with
this smaller hole before starting to sew. A misaligned needle could hit the plate and break, which
could be dangerous. And make sure to change your needle plate back for zigzag and other wide
stitches.
I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: My Evolve serger is skipping stitches while using

First, change the needles making sure to use the el705 needle system. Second, make sure the subsidiary looper is engaged properly (plugging up the upper looper hole). Also make sure the needles are all the way up in the machine. This should do it or it may need to be adjusted but the Evolve is a very, very reliable machine. Hope this helps...

Testimonial: "Thanks I am going to try this as soon as I can, but right now occupied with a job with my industrial machine. My only issue may be with the needle."

My machine is skipping stiches it seems its not picking up from the bobbin

Install a brand new needle and confirm it is inserted with the flat side facing the proper direction.. A bent, damaged needle will sometimes cause skipped stitches or even needle strikes inside the machine. A new needle is the least expensive cure for a lot of sewing machine problems. The needle should be changed about every 8 hours of sewing or at least when starting a new project.

Remove the top thread. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

Sometimes, skipped stitches will occur if the needle, thread, and fabric are incompatible. Be sure to use the correct needle for your project. Use a good quality thread--AVOID old or bargain bin thread!

If the machine continues to skip stitches, then it may be out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My machine keeps skipping stitches. I have had it werviced three times in the last n6 months, by two different repairmen, and it works for awhile, then starts backnup again. Any suggestions?

Usually, the first thing to try when a machine skips stitches is install a brand new needle. Also, be sure you are using the right type of needle for the fabric and thread you are using, ie ball point needle for knits, sharp needle for wovens, leather needle for thick fabrics/denim/leather... Needles do wear out with use, so changing needles frequently could be helpful. (Needles are the least expensive solution to most sewing problems!)

You can also try removing the upper thread. ALWAYS raise the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

My pfaff hobbymatic 875 is skipping thread on the bobbin side

Be sure to use a brand new needle. If the needle is bent or damaged, it will frequently skip stitches. Also, if you are using the incorrect needle for the fabric & thread you are using, it will skip stitches, ie a ball point needle on woven fabric.

Hi, I just need to know how to thread this machine properly or, where can I get a manual please?

Search the internet for:

Make + Model + the word "Manual"

or contact manufacturer support. Most machines are threaded similarly, so even if you can't find a manual for your model, a manual for a model similar to yours will be helpful.

You can also search YouTube videos for threading instructions.

When threading, be sure to always raise the presser foot during the upper threading process. This releases the tension disk and allows the thread to seat properly.

For skipped stitches, try installing a brand new needle.

Skipping stitches

Skipped stitches
1. A bent or dull needle
2. The wrong needle for your fabric
knit fabrics require a jersey or ballpoint tip. Most wovens do well with a universal tip, and specialty fibers, like leather or metallic, usually require specific needles.
3. Incorrect machine threading
4. Unbalanced needle thread tension
Start by making relatively small changes and run a test stitch to evaluate the impact. If you need to adjust the tension dial using woven cotton fabric with good quality all-purpose thread and a new needle
5.check the needle is inserted correctly. The needle needs to be pushed as far up the needle shaft as possible. It's easy to insert the needle half way, clamp it down and think it is inserted correctly.
the flat part of the needle should be positioned towards the back. If the needle is not inserted correctly, it will not be able to pull up the bobbin thread and will cause skipped stitches.
6. If the suggestions don't help then it is time for a tune-up.

I have a Hyundai 8 stitch sewing machine and have great difficulty sewing with it. The thread keeps bunching up underneath and misses a lot of stitches. I have followed instructions, both threading up

here is a suggestion for the skipped stitches
Skipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted correctly
Remove needle & reinsert needle( flat side towards the back of machine)
2. The needle is damaged
replace with new needle
3. The wrong size needle is being used
Choose a needle to suit the thread & fabric
4. The foot not attached correctly
Check & attach correctly

and since it stops with a crunch,, I suggest having the machine
checked to see why that happening
