Question about Hitachi Televison & Video
The screen is black and there is sound on some inputs. I removed the back cover and cannot tell if the back lights are on. Then I did the flash light test and can see the menu as a video instructed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

SOURCE: Hitachi 55" Plasma HDTV, 1 yr old, suddenly lost picture and sound, but power light still on.
It sounds like a shutdown circuit is being activated. This is normal in cases where the power supply id drawing excessive current. I would suggest that you get this looked at by a qualified professional. This is because this problem may be in the power supply and the voltages can get dangerous in this section of the TV set.
In any event if this is a power supply problem chances are the technician will just have to replace the power supply. Which should cost from 150-250 dollars.
I hope this helps

Good Day;
Try this:
Symptom: All Front LED indicators are flashing in sequence: Power-->Temp-->Lamp-->Power......continuously
Cause: Replace Lamp . This symptom may happen all the time or it may be intermittent. It is normal if it occurrs from time to time, See OG under TV Front Indicators explanation notes.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

SOURCE: Toshiba 36HF71 has sound but no picture
Same problem with mine. Relays click, sound, no picture and a flashing power LED. I finally found a schematic online. I went through the high voltage circuits and found the power transistor 2SC5570 was shorted out. There is also a pico fuse in that area but my was not open. I replaced the transistor and prayed the flyback transformer was not shorted. It wasn't, I'm watching my old 36" right now. Not a bad fix (17.00) bucks. Wonder what a service tech would have charged ;)
