Oil only as instructed in the user manual. As a computerized machine, it could be damaged by improper oiling.

Hi,

ALL machines will require lubrication at some point. It will require covers to be removed however. Apart from the cover over the needle bar / presser foot area, I dont recommend you try taking them off as without knowledge of exactly how, you can break the retaining clips. Cleaning out the lint REGULARLY is very important - you can use a vacuum with a crevice tool.

So, remove the 'lamp' cover and needle plate, vacuum out thoroughly. Apply a drop in total to the length of the needle bar, a small amount on the presser foot shaft.Remove the black plastic shuttle, clean around it, apply a SMIDGE of oill to the 'track' on the underside of it. Thats about all you will have access to. Use proper sewing machine oil - NOTHING ELSE!

If you sew a lot, get it serviced proffessionally - they will do the areas you can't access.

Good luck!

SOURCE: threading a sewing machine

What do you mean you are unable to pull the bobbin thread through, elaboration would help solve the problem...
I suspect I'm having the same problem with you if it's anything to do with the top thread looping around in the bobbin holder.

Damn machine!

SOURCE: Download a Janome (Jem 639) sewing machine manual

Just today  i got out my little janome i bought years ago and it is this model.  There was no "manual" with the machine.  All that came with it is a large 20X14 two sided print out.  I can scan and send this to you with an email address.

Where do I oil my machine sewist 625e

Look on machine for little red dots with a small hole nearby. Usually these are near the threading points and also on the foot near or on the metal flap. Also they may be under the flap near the bobbin. Make sure you wipe the excess oil off before using.

My janome 625e came with one metal. Do I need to use metal or can I use plastic

Are you talking about feet or bobbins? Did you buy the machine new? Do you have a manual?
In my experience of this type of machine, the bobbins were plastic

Needle up/down button has stopped working - no sound / activity when button is pressed.

Check that the bobbin winder on top of the machine is clicked to the left or disengaged.

Does a Brother walking (quilting) foot fit a Janome 625e? If so how do I attach it?

More than likely. You mount the walking in place of the regular foot. You just have to attach the fork over the needle clamp screw at the same time.

I have a Janome that looks similar to the Sewist 625e and is 25 years old. The underneath threat of the stitch is knotting up underneath. I have checked that I have threaded top thread correctly. I...

Hi. It may be that you need to adjust the tension. Put a different color thread on top than is in the bobbin and sew a couple of inches, then check. I suspect you'll find that the top thread is the one that is loose and knotting up. (It's hard to tell unless you're using two different color threads.) If that's the case, your upper tension needs to be tighter. Tighten it just a bit, then sew a few more inches and check again. Repeat until you don't see any of the top thread on the bottom (or maybe just a little bit) or the bobbin thread on the top (or maybe just a little bit.).

Hope this helps!

How do I thread it? I have no manuel. Do you have a picture?

google search and put in "manual for (sewing machine #)" and you will get to download manual. It will take you to several websites that have the manual to download. I did it for mine. I have done it for several other things like cameras, etc.

There are differing opinions about canned air. Some technicians are totally opposed to its use as it will force lint and debris farther into the machine's cavities requiring a professional to clean them.

If you have been using your machine a lot even though it's only been a year, it may just need some TLC from your favorite sewing machine technician. Most machine vendors recommend an annual check, cleaning, and adjustment.
