Most likely your hard drive is gone bad. Push "menu+find" buttons then turn on, you will get diagnostic screen, it will show if your cornice drive is bad. It will say"Cornice Dive removed"4f3efc6.jpg

There are no free map updates for the StreetPilot Series.

The newer models do come with a free update that must be downloaded within 60 days of purchasing the system.

There are utilities for adding POI (Points of Interest) as well as Browser plugins that can be used to add Favourite Locations from Google maps. these updates are available from the garmin website.

The Garmin Streetpilot C340 is discontinued, so there isn't much support for it. You can find some updates at

But no free map updates.

I'll never buy another piece of **** Garmin. You have to pay out the *** for the thing and then they charge you out the *** for maps to use it. Tom Tom maps are free.

Register your Garmin at MyGarmin.com - from here Garmin guides you to download the webbrowser plugin to communicate with your Garmin StreetPilot C330 over a USB cable.

When your Garmin StreetPilot C330 is connected through your webbrowser - it will show compatible map updates. These can be ordered on DVD or downloaded.

Note that downloading the map update will take a very long time and requires at least 5 Gb of disk space on your PC/Mac. The internet connection needs to be fast and stable enough to complete the huge download. Otherwise its better to order the update through DVD.

Update for Garmin c340 GPS Receiver
to be able to update the C340 Streetpilot, you need a Secure Digital memory card (SD o SDHC) at least 1gb i will recommend 2gb.
log into www.garmin.com
you will see some tabs on top of the page like COMPANY - PRODUCTS - SOLUTIONS - MAPS -ETC.
Place your mouse on the maps TAB and select update maps.
It will open a new page with another tab that will say CHECK FOR UPDATES.
then you will see two o more options so you will have to choose what kind of device you have (the new cell gps, garmin nuvi, garmin streetpilot, etc)
after that it will ask yo to install a plug-in into your computer (you need to have the gps connected to pc) andit will scan the model and type you own and will then show you what is available for that unit (software like voices, maps, etc)

Garmin Streetpilot c550
As far as I know Garmin maps are not free yet
I oaid 59 bucks for 2009 updates from circuit city
but they are going out business so you may have to get them like at best buy
or at garmin.com

Hi,

Try Here for the updates,

You may have to add Garmin to your trusted web sites !!! Firewall.
In a web browser, tools, internet optoins, security, trusted sites, sites button, add it here.

Garmin c330 update
What are you trying to update, firmware or maps? Firmware updates ae free from Garmin. Just go to www.garmin.com and download the WebUpdater. If you are trying to update the maps, these are available for purchase in CD or SD card formats, also from Garmin or your local retailer. They should be approx. $70.

GARMIN offers a free download called "WebUpdater" for these products. Once you have the GARMIN USB driver for this unit installed on your computer (also avail. at GARMIN.com), you can run the WebUpdater, and it will update all known updates to the unit.

Installing "new" maps...
If you don't mean "updated" maps, then you would have to use another GARMIN mapping product like MapSource, then load the new maps into the unit via an SD FLASH card.
