Ihave Dell Vostro 1000 and after upating the bios the laptop sounds one long pip then three pips then nothing on screen
And I cant find the Bios on the net except exe which is not good to solve this problem. What I need here is the .rom file and I can't find it at dell site
Bios is always a tricky thing to do. Once you have found the bios update for that motherboard & you have double checked, then get a friend to check also or it's possible to make an expensive paperweight. Here is a site of dell products for the bios update>>http://search.euro.dell.com/results.aspx?s=gen&c=uk&l=en&cs=&k=bios+reset&cat=sup If after that you have had little success tyr calling them 0870 906 0010 or email them direct [email protected]

Unlockbiosrecovery.com can unlock your bios password. I use them whenever I have a laptop I am working on with an unknown bios password. Great service with great people.
Hi there
Bypassing a BIOS password can be very tricky, however there have been some methods that have in fact worked. I explain these in one of my latest tips. You can find it here: http://www.fixya.com/support/r8422785-bypass_bios_password
Give it a read and let me know how it goes.

Hi alkeith...
Turn on the computer while tapping F8, this will take you into the Safe Mode.
While your in the Safe Mode you can do a system restore.
Restore your computer back to an earlier time when it was working before you installed the bios change.
Left click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
This should solve your problem.
Please take time to rate me
send me your service tag wich u can see on bottom .. or when you turn on your system you will see a hash code.. like this #1234567-595b send me that one i will send you master password
Thanks
Your laptop has a Phoenix BIOS. Therefore, there are only 4 possible backdoor passwords: Dell, PHOENIX, phoenix, BIOS and CMOS.
They are case-sensitive! If none of the above work, you need to reset your BIOS and then try again.
Dell Laptop with bios or hard drive password set ? Unlock your dell laptop using the link below if it display a message that says "this computer system is protected by a password authentication system, you cannot access the data on this computer without the primary or administrator password, when you turn on the computer. This message is what you get if the BIOS is protected by a password. or you get system disabled
Go to: http://dell-inspiron-1000-bios-password.biospwd.com to get your dell bios password authentication and get full access to your dell computer, they can unlock almost all dell laptop such as dell inspiron, xps, latitude, precision, studio, vostro
There is no Jumper on a Dell Vostro 1000 to clear the password. You will have to contact Dell Technical Support, Complete a ownership validation to confirm you are an authorized user of the system, then they can provide you with a Master Password to clear the password
You may be in for some trouble, a failed bios update isn't always an easy fix. if you can find the cmos battery try to remove that for a few seconds. you will also need a disk version of the bios, download that from dell on another computer and copy it to floppy or cd and see if you can boot to that and reinstall the bios.
when you press the power button what happens, does it light up and run the fan? Nothing appears on the screen?
