First, thank you for bringing your problem to FixYa for support.
I am guessing a recent change or update to your Inspiron caused Media Direct to suddenly "freak out" on you. You are not alone and there is a safe, free solution provided by Dell.
Go to: http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/250764/dell-inspiron-e1505-notebook-mediadirect-repair-utility-application-windows-xp-free-download.htm
1. Define your Dell notebook device model.
2. Define your operating system to install your Dell notebook device
3. Search notebook driver category
4. Find Dell notebook driver
5. Select Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook MediaDirect Repair Utility Application Windows XP
6. Download Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook MediaDirect Repair Utility Application Windows XP
7. Install Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook MediaDirect Repair Utility Application Windows XP
8. Restart or reboot your computer to finish your driver installation.

Hope I was able to FIX-YA! -If this worked and you are happy, please take time to let us know and provide your recommendation or feedback. Happy Computing!

Printer prints 2-3 pages then stops.

Open the print queue in the system tray and look at the status of the stalled doc. try restarting the doc. If the printing is a large file it could be a memory problem. check device mgr (Ctrl Alt Del) to see memory usage

Try to restore factory image of your system by going to the advance boot option: (restart your computer keep tapping F8 on the Dell screen).

- Select Fix your Computer and press Enter.
- Click Next when you get to the keyboard/language page.
- If asked for a password, Type your password when you log in to your desktop.
- System will automatically restore your computer to factory image/settings.

Note: Your files will be deleted when you restore system to factory image.

Hope this helps ^_^

Does my 1550 have blue tooth

Here's a rundown of what you don't get in the Inspiron 1501 that comes standard with the Inspiron 1505, I am assuming yo did a typo with the 1550
  • No dedicated media buttons on the front
  • No Dell Media Direct software feature
  • No FireWire port
  • No S-Video port
  • 3-in-1 card reader instead of 5-in-1
  • No internal Bluetooth option
But if yours is the 1501 then just buy a $7 blue tooth doogle that slots into your usb then your bluetooth problem is solved.

The static noise may be a defect. If your laptop is still under warrent, contact dell for a warrenty replacement. I had the same problem with my inspirion. Sigmatel
