Yes check that the shutter is ok and also ensure that the LED sensor is free of dirty(Use blower)
I have read the comment on the MFC8460N printer/copier I would love he rewrites it it is not making much sense to me. I quess the no paper indicator light is all about paper tray sensor not working fine (replace it with one your sure is working)These LEDs are the same you can even swarp them with the exit paper sensor. If it detects paper in the tray paper jums in the exit then conclude that the paper sensor is defeative. So look for a good one.

This happened to me as well with the same model printer. I was trying to print from an Avery label template. For some reason, the printer won't do it. I could print anything else.

Did all that but there is a clicking sound as well now. I think it is a piece that is on the copier/printer that kinds the paper tray in ( you can see it hanging down and it goes back and forth). I put it in the forward position, back position, down position...everyway possible and nothing.
