My290outdrive lifts out of the water when reverse is selected

Both actions are used to select reverse on various makes of vehicle, have you tried seeing if there is a collar fitted just beneath the gear knob ? you normally have to lift the underside of the gear knob to get it into reverse

normally when you select reverse the selection automatically moves the lock pin
check with your local service agent to see what is mission that is not locking the unit in reverse

I'd clean the small filters. One under the Flow Indicator: Unscrew the Flow Indicator cap to remove it. Lift out the rotor and the filter is directly under it. Lift the filter out and clean. Replace in the reverse order. If that didn't work then call Consumer Care 1-800-237-7691. Hope that Helped.

Check the filters? There are two. One on the water tank cap (looks like a screen), the other is under the Flow Indicator: turn the Flow Indicator Cap counter-clockwise and remove it. Lift the rotor out and under it is the filter. Lift it out and clean. Reinstall in the reverse -order. run fault codes and check for a TCM problem or servo/ solenoid s for the gear selections.

Most common cause is a worn clutch ,but obvious your american and not used to manual gearboxes as their is a knack for this and that is lift clutch a bit as you pull it into reverse or if the fault is in the gearbox stop the engine put in reverse and restart engine ,also select reverse more slowly ,ever seen inside a gearbox and how the reverse works ? lots of extreme pressure on the changing mechanism .

pardo me for asking but is there not a method of selection of rverse gear by either pressing or lifting the gear lever so it will move over further so as to select reverse? or a lift up circular boss on gear lever itself that has to be lifted then reverse position can be selected ? hope this helps ?

The hot water did work for mine. Here is the solution I discovered:

After removing the food plunger and juicer cover: (1) Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the cutting blade plate in the center of the basket and lift off the cutting blade plate; (2) Unscrew the base counterclockwise (it will unscrew from the threaded center piece) and lift it up; (3) Lift off the basket and juice bowl. Now you can clean the basket and juice bowl.

To reassemble, reverse the process.

It sounds like you have the hot and cold water lines to the washer reversed.  Try turning off the tap for the hot water then setting the washer to just cold wash and then  hot washif you get nothing on the cold and cold water when set to hot they are probably reversed.  Typically if the auto-temp control is broken you will only get hot or cold coming out on any setting.
