SOURCE: I need new air pump for Homedics Aquascape twist
I have an older & slightly different 4 sided tapered Homedics aquarium, but it has the same pump. I used a meter to determine that the proper voltage was coming out of the transformer, measured at the plug. I took the base apart & bypassed the female connector switch the transformer plug, plugs into. Everything worked fine, meaning the fail was in the female connector, as the wires were solidly soldered on. With a magnifying glass, I could see that a rectangular "C" type copper flange, had the side that touches the side of the plug when inserted, had broken off, therefore making no connection. Using an insulated screw driver, I temporarily completed the circuit & confirmed the problem. Cut out the old female connector & take that & with the transformer (& its plug) to an electronic components store & find a suitable replacement. You will need additional heat shrink tubing & to solder the connections.
If your pump is truly not working even if it is getting power, I don't know the answer the full answer to that. A privately owned aquarium store may test the pump for you, & offer to feel or replace the diaphragm & check valves if the motor works. I see the screws are painted with locktite after re-assembly so the parts don't vibrate loose. Good Luck.
