if you feel technically inclined you can open the camera carefully and take it apart to the point where you can remove the upper circuit board ( NOTE 1: make a careful note of every screw you remove since they are different size and need to be used exactly in the same order) and then the small black plastic assembly above the circuit board below, you can see the defective switch on top of the 2nd board, remove the plastic part of the switch until you see the bare 2 contacts on the circuit board, solder a small piece of wire to bridge the contacts, now very carefully reassemble the camera observing the exact order of screws used, see NOTE 1. If everything is back in order insert the battery and the camera should work now.
note: should you not be inclined to do this work and want to sell the camera as is for spare parts I am interested, drop me a note at: cocnutray at yahoo.com. A Nikon repair shop will charge between $80 to $110 FOR THIS TYPE OF REPAIR, THEY WILL ACTUALLY REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE MICRO-SWITCH. HOPE THIS HELPS :-)

How do i replace internal battery on the minolta maxxum 7000? i replaced the AAA batteries, but it still just flashes ''film'' in window.I have no manual and dont know how to get the film out.HELP!

Unscrew battery compartment on the right grip, and remove the battery holder (AAA's in most Maxxum 7000's) In the compartment you should see a silver colored metal plate, held on by 6 small phillips screws. Unscrew these, and carefully lift the plate, and move it aside (there's a tiny wire soldered inside the plate, so don't break it off).

Inside there should be a CR2016 lithium button battery. Replace it, and reassemble in reverse order.
NOTE: This probably won't fix any issues regarding the removal of the film, as the 2016 is just a memory backup battery for when the main batteries are removed.

to remove the film, install fresh main batteries, turn on the camera via the "Lock" switch and rewind the film. on the back of the camera, just behind the LCD screen, above the film door, you will see a grey button marked "R". Push and hold it, while sliding the gray slide switch immediately to the left of it to the left. The film should now rewind.

When the film is done rewinding, open the back via the sliding latch on the left side of the body with the gray button in the middle. Push the button, while sliding the latch down.

To insert film, place the cartridge in the same place and orientation as the old roll, and pull the leader over to the red dot on the bottom right of the film compartment, and close the back. it should advance to the first frame if done correctly, or blink 0 if done wrong.

Have Fun with your 7000!

Talkabout250

I just went to replace the batteries in my 250's after 7 years of sitting unused and I also had to PRY the battery compartments off after wrestling with them for 15 min. to no avail & very sore hands LOL. Just take a medium sized flat blade screw driver, place it between the sides of the cover split and give a small downward TWIST, then do the same in the middle of the back of the compartment to break them loose then you can pull them straight off. I used a TINY dab of HAND CREAM and rubbed it along the inside SIDES of the compartment before replacing and now they come off nice & easy but are still very secure for future battery changes !
