This is normal. Countertop dishwashers have two motors inside. The drain motor is a inductive type motor. They are noisy. They all work this way during draining.

SOURCE: Dishwasher isn't draining

It could be the pump, but not only. Check first that you don't have any clog in the drain line. If drain line is clean, open machine's rear panel and : - Look if the pump works. If it doesn't work check that pump get power (with multi-meter). In case it get power (and does't work), it should be replaced. - In case the pump works - The machine has a drain valve with an electric solenoid (the drain pipe connected to it). When it get power the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain line. Test that it get power. In case it get power and dosen't work - You can easyly open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!!! Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace for a new valve. Good luck !

SOURCE: Water Will not Drain

It could be cause the water level switch. The level switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. I am not familiar with your machine, but if you will open the rear panel you will find it easily. Clear tube from any obstruction. Good luck !

SOURCE: Diswasher motor making noise during wash cycle

It could be the impeller on the motor. The impeller fits over the shaft of the motor and might have split/broken up. That funny noise is probably the shaft spinning inside the damage impeller. Fortunately the impeler is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I believe there are one or two parts/covers to remove that are held in by a roughly half dozen torx screws.

SOURCE: GE Nautilus won't drain after Rinse Cycle

Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. Also check the hose connected to the disposal. Mine apparently had a kink in it. When I straightened the hose the dishwasher drained at full speed (I recently had a plumber re-route a hot waterline. He must has bent the hose). Hope this helps. If not go to the GE website. That's where I found my answer.

Kenmore dishwasher: Pre-wash cycle is too short: fills with water, runs for only one second, and then drains. The rest of the cycle is fine; the dishes get clean.

Pre-wash may be compromised and a new power circuit board may be needed.
My advice: As long as the other cycles are accurate and work as usual; Pre-wash in your sink (spray off waste material) before you place the dishes in the washer and commence cleaning. Its best to wash off food and other material before washing in the machine to avoid clogging the drains and pump.

Washers fine but doesnt drain water and go to rinse cycle

Check the drain hose may be kinked. Washers have been known to eat socks, they go in to the the tub during the spin cycle and down in the pump. If you are so inclined to look dome pumps are clear and you can see the sock. There is a hose clamp to remove and you may be able to remove the sock. Reassemble and test. Remember as always to unplug the washer first before doing any work. This exploded view has a washer and if you hover over the bottom right it will show what the pump looks like.

More likely: the solenoid which directs the water to either the drain or the spray arm is clogged/jammed. Located underneath near the drain line.

Does not advance to drain cycle

I would bet that it is the timer switch assy.
Motor runs ? yes
washes? yes
drain tube clear ? yes

If there is no drain valve to deal with, the problem must be the contacts during the timer cycle, since the main obviously works or you wouldn't be able to wash anything.
you need a new timer switch assy.
