Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

Open Question

Toshiba Satellite P755-S5387 I cannot get the wifi to recognize available wireless networks.

The laptop keeps telling me to turn on the hardware radio and when I go there the line item does not allow an activation. I have looked all over the computer and cannot find any manual switch.

Sounds like one of these problems.

1) The wireless hardware is turned off in the BIOS. Reboot and check to see if there is an entry in the BIOS for the embedded wireless card and if so make sure it is set to ON.

2) The hardware is not recognised because the drivers are not properly installed. Check in DEVICE MANAGER to see if the wireless appears at all, and if it is in an error state. If so, re-install latest drivers from the manufacturer's web site.

3) Other software necessary may be missing. Some machines have wireless manager clients that they need to access the card. Check on the manufacturers' web site for these utilities, and if found, install them and reboot watching for new (different) problems to arise.

4) You could have buggered wireless hardware, but this seems pretty unlikely. Some wireless cards are add-ins and can be removed from the laptop motherboard by accessing them through a door on the bottom of the unit. If that is the case with your machine, power down the unit and remove the wireless card. Check in the hardware manager to make sure no device errors for the card remain, and if they do, remove the hardware by right-clicking on the error device icon and clicking on REMOVE HARDWARE. Then, power down and re-insert the wireless card and reboot and try a clean install.

Good luck...

SOURCE: Lost internet access WiFi and direct

Go to control panel > Device Manager > scroll down to the network devices and click on the plus sign. Highlight the wireless device. Right click on it and choose uninstall. click ok and reboot the system. When windows reloads, it will recognice the new device and want to load the drivers for it. It may ask you if it can search windows update for a fresh driver, allow it to continue. The drivers will load and the correct settings applied. All should be as it should.

Disabled because the hardware radio switch is off

Somewhere on your laptop there is a switch that turns your wifi card on or off, try to look for it. If you can't find it, go ahead and tell me what kind of lap top it is so I can try to figure it out.

I use free spotify on my asus laptop. Every now and then it tells me spotify can't play music because there is a problem with my sound card? I don't even know what that is or if I have one. P

On PC's and Laptops there are usually built in hardware items on the motherboard. These items include USB ports, Ethernet (RJ-45), Sound card with color jacks (3.5mm), video card (HDMI, DVI, VGA), SD card, etc. To use these hardware items you need an operating system (XP, 7, Knoppix, Unix, etc.) and a driver. The driver allows the hardware (sound card) and the software (OS) to communicate.

Possible causes:
Compatibility issues - intermittent problems
hardware failure
driver problems - wrong driver - out of date driver

I hope this helps!

Will not connect to the internet. It just started this. It tells me there is no internet, when I try and fix the problem the computer tells me I need to turn on the wireless capabiltiy. It tells me it...

It's been a long time since I've seen this model, but with Acer's I remember the button generally being either near the power button (would be a button with an LED light behind it) or as a little switch on the front, lower side (basically under the touchpad)
The button itself will have an icon that looks like a radio tower with little' ) ) )' coming off of it in in different sizes. If you don't see it, look at the F keys for the same symbol, then use the Fn button and press that key. I know you said you looked everywhere but hopefully this helps.
Sometimes there is a software switch also that will allow you to turn on / off the wireless, verify that when you try and connect to a wireless it doesn't ask if you want the computer to flip the switch for you.

The computer tells me the hardware radio switch is turned off on my ASUS U52 notebook. But I can't find out where/how to turn it on.

The radio switch key is the 3rd key from left top row, all top row keys are function keys. To activate the function on the keys you need to hold down the function key, located bottom row 2nd from left (fn) key. Hold down the fn key and press the radio key. That will switch the radio off and on.

I have acer 4730z laptop.

The Acer Aspire 4730 models DO NOT include any bluetooth hardware. The button is there because it shares much of its setup and hardware with the 4930 models which do have bluetooth. So, as the machine tells you, there is no bluetooth device to turn on and off. Check the specs from Acer's website and you will see no mention of bluetooth. You will need to add a bluetooth device. The simplest would be one that plugs into your USB port. Other than that little issue, the 4730 is a very nice notebook for the price.

Radio not working

If you have recently changed the battery or lost power for any reason your radio may require an anti theft code, check your manual to see if this even applies to your vehicle. You may be able to find code behind the glove box in some cases. Or look up your vehicle online to see if any codes are posted. If the clock is working you have power.

How to activate integrated bluetooth in Toshiba Protege R500?

dear szeee

maybe you can read this

Bluetooth hardware and software (Bluetooth Stack) is necessary in order to use Bluetooth.
Please turn your Notebook upside down and check whether or not a Bluetooth sticker is attached.
Check your product model sticker string above the serial number, if it includes a
"B" (=Bluetooth) near the end. In both cases Bluetooth is built-in.
A internal Bluetooth module should be in your system if the "System devices"
section of the "Device Manager" shows a "Bluetooth ACPI from Toshiba" device.
Have a look at the "Device Manager" picture below for more details.

Ensure that just one Bluetooth hardware is installed.

Read the “TOSHIBA->Bluetooth Hardware” section of the following webpage to find a suitable Bluetooth hardware:
