I was in the process of cleaning my Hoover WindTunnel U5753-90, when I lifted up the front wheels the torsion spring popped off and now I have no clue on how to reinstall it. Any help?
On this machine the spring goes to the front wheel assembly under the machine. if this has came off then the wheel assembly is broken. i believe the part # is 36432027. hope this helps

Is the belt still intact? Does it has a wand tool, normally they are connected at the bottom of the machine,if it gets plugged up with gunk, that will greatly reduce your suction.
First, take it outside or to the basement. This can get messy. Turn the vacuum cleaner upside down. Remove four 1-1/2" self-tapping screws that hold the bottom cover in place (where the beater bar is.) Remove this and you will see where the belts go; one from the beater bar to a grooved wheel and one from a bowed wheel to a metal spindle way in the back. The beater bar will lift right out. Be sure to clean the threads and pet hair while you're at it.
On this model it is only a single slide adjustment lever. have you trie to tilt the vac backwards (lifting the wieght off the front wheels) and then slide the adjustment lever?
If there is a mechanical issue with it. take the bottom plate and roller out, and then the 2 small screws which hold the cover on underneath. you should be able to see the problem from there
There is a idler wheel that will drive the V belt, sometimes they jam and you just have to reach in, push and make sure if comes in contact with the belt. Alot of times tho it is the other flat belt, 38528035 that will stretch and can cause you to have problems with the brush roll not turning.
