Monitor keeps shuting down

what do you mean by "computer starts"????? plz write full detail. first remove your monitor cable from your cpu cabinet. if you are able to see "no signal" message on screen then your monitor is working. if you aren't seeing anything on your screen then there is some problem with your monitor. there also may be problem with your VGA connection (VGA or D-Sub wire). remove and reconnect this wire from both end. first reconnect it from your monitor and then from your video card. if it dosen't fix then you have to check that all led's are glowing on your cpu cabinet or not. if only power led is glowing and other led's always remains off, then there may be problem with your video card or ram or hdd. first open your pc case, then if you have video card, then remove it and put it again. reconnect your hdd sata wire. remove your ram and place it again. if now also not showing anything on your screen, then there is problem with your motherboard bios.

Acer pc and lg monitor blank screen says power save mode on start up, anyone know how to fix this?

Actually during start-up there is a slight delay before the HDD & OS is detected by the CPU. Normally all monitors slip into power saving mode within 10 secs of inactivity of either mouse or keystroke. This inactivity is read by the monitor which promptly switches to power saving mode. However the moment the HDD LED starts blinking, the monitor wakes up & starts displaying. This power saving mode in most of the flat screens is only associated with movement of mouse or keypad. This does not register till the CPU starts up & thats why the monitor switches over to power saving mode till it starts receiving signal from the CPU.
It is a normal behaveour, so don't get worked up over it, plus you can always hit the Auto set feature on the monitor after booting the PC completely. ( I think the time out for the monitor to enter power saving mode is only 10 secs). Hope this helps.

Power failure, command display (no bootable cd)

It seems that your first boot was on cd or dvd, or may be your hard drive did not detect, to check both of them go to BIOS set up by pressing F2 or Delete on your keyboard to enter set up. When you are in set up mode go to Boot menu (if you can not see boot menu go to advance). In a boot menu select HDD as a first boot and Cd or DVD as a second boot, if you can not find your HDD it means that your HDD did not detect, and you need to replace it with a new one.
Hope it gives you a solution

There was no beeep sound heard at the beginning Delay in turn fan power supply the Power LED on the front panel of the computer doesnt light the HDD LED on the front panel of the computer doesn't...

as i always say:
intercept all of cables of your PC case and even power cable of your monitor.
evolve battery of bios then wait for 25 minutes then connect all of cables and try turning on your PC:
1- with battery of bios
2- without battery of bios
it should work.
(this works cause the motherboard reset it's bios and start correctly again).

My emachine T1742 desktop will not turn on. When plugged in the power supply's fan turns on, cpu fan doesnt start, both hdd/power led's flicker and pressing power button doesnt power on/off system.

Disconnect all the devices from the computer(tower) including keyboard, mouse, monitor(everything)..even the power cable

Now keep on holding down the power button on the computer tower for 15-30 seconds..

Now release the power button, plug in the power cable, monitor, keyboard, mouse and turn on the computer...

If it works, great!!!

Otherwise, take it for repair..

I tried several different cards but no luck. Cards work ok on other computers.

5V Stand-By Indicator LED
The power supply will always supply a 5V standby voltage to your
motherboard so that it can power on via for example Wake On Lan
technology. This LED shows that your power supply is supplying
this standby voltage to your motherboard.n :D

You may need to replace your power supply, if the LED is flashing, it's not supplying the power the motherboard needs.

My computer won't boot up or something; no power led lit.

Seems to me your Ram module connector is dirty. Clean its edge connector with a soft eraser. Or if it can, transfer it to the next ram bank. Or your memory module is already dead.
