hi,few yrs old tv? do you know few basic tip's check the power main board,look for leaky capacitors ,or dry solder's -re solder .and changed the 85'degree capacitors to 105' with the same volts.remember dis-conated from AC main before you do this job.good luck.
Had the same issue sound but no picture, try wiggling the connections to the back of the tv, if that does not work try using a different hook-up, I ended going from the component jacks to the DVI hook-up and this took care of the problem, hope this helps!!
you idealy need to use a scart lead from the dvd to the tv, then pick the "av" chanel it is plugged intoon the tv. You get a much better picture using a scart lead.
