Any ideas on how to remove a stripped screw from lawn mower, Briggs and Stratton, top plate, there are 3 screws and one is stripped not allowing the cover to come off

1. Remove the dipstick, if equipped. Tilt the mower deck with the air filter or spark plug side up, and position some newspaper and an oil pan or jug beneath the mower. Use a 3/8" drive socket wrench and extension (no socket) to turn the plug counter clockwise (see photo at right), allowing the old oil to drain.

unbolt top cover 5/16, unbolt bottom cover 3/8 unbolt blade 9/16 or 5/8 remove old belt, install new one, install covers and blade

remove top cover then breather cover take out three screws pull base plate breath cover off there is a hose connect in back of plat it will slip off make sure you no were it goes on reassembly once plate is off there are 2 screws 3/8 that hold on the carb take them out carb will slip off intake pipe check intake pipe for cracks or holes slip off carb the linkage is still attached pay attention to how it is hook up take sometime to study how it hook uo then slip linkage out of hole you have your fist carb off reinstall in reverse order once you rebuild shouldnt need any adjustment the red neck saya let me no if i can help you

Remove the pulley and punch a hole in the seal with a nail or awl and screw in metal screw and pull out seal with a vise grips or claw hammer etc. Put new one in.

Sounds like the air/fuel mix is off.. there should be a adjustment screw on the side of the carburator use a screw driver and turn it slowly one way or the other till it starts running right

usually there are two screws. On some newer mowers the same screws hold on the Air Cleaner housing.

you need a valve spring compresser dont try useing two screw drivers to remove the clip use the valve spring compresser it so much easier

Your Briggs & Stratton has a Sprint or Classic motor on it. Every few years, the diaphragm in the carburetor must be replaced.

1. Remove the air filter assembly. This is a good time to clean and re-oil the filter.
2. Remove the 3/8" head bolt from the front of the fuel tank.
3. Remove the 1/2" head bolt from the side of the fuel tank.
4. Gently pull the fuel tank assembly toward you and tilt it away from you. While doing this, you will need to unhook the governor wire from the throttle plate.
5. Drain the gasoline (you can use it again later)
6. Remove the 5 screws that hold the carburetor on top of the fuel tank.
7. Pull the carb straight up. Be careful not to lose the spring or strainer on the bottom of the carb.
8. Remove the diaphragm.
9. Clean the carb and tank surfaces with carb cleaner spray.
10. Open the package with the new diaphragm in it. You will find 2 pieces. One is rubber, the other is paper.
11. Place the rubber diaphragm onto the fuel tank, then the paper one. Gently reinstall the carb onto the tank.
12. Push the 5 screws back into the carb. Before you tighten any of the screws, have all 5 pushed through and wiggle the carb a little, this will allow the diaphragm to align properly. Tighten the screws.
13. Reinstall the tank/carb assembly. Make sure you hook up the governor linkage.
14. Inspect the governor spring(s). They should be connected on both ends. You should not disconnect them for this repair.
15. Reinstall the air filter, gas, prime, and GO!

adjust top valve when the bottom valve is fully compressed and than with the top valve fully compressed adjust the bottom valve the same way.
very easy But remember to losen the center tork screw before adjusting the rocker arm nut
