Lens Errors The Lens on my EasyShare C330 will not retract. Going through the various options yields both lens errors 14 and 22. Tried tapping the bottom. While that triggered descriptions of each option (sports, video clip, etc), it did not trigger the lens cover closing or retracting. Any suggestions?

To all new users posting on this thread:

When the lens will not retract and camera is not functional (no picture on display, and does not shoot) , and you already tried replacing batteries with a new fresh set (ensure please) , and then restarting camera with no memory card inside, then camera is faulty.

Try an easy fix by pushing gently the lens (do not force them, just help them) while you turn off camera at same time. Try also switching the mode selector.

If still no luck , then the camera must be disassembled to fix the problem.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair from manufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.

Kodak EasyShare C513 lens cover will not open fully automatically. tap on side of lens and the baffles will open and camera works. turn camera off, lens retracts and baffles close. have tried blowing any...

I had a friend that ran into the same problem, but his solution is not what I would recommend but it did work for him. He used sewing machine oil and applied a tiny amount less than a drop to the crevice of the camera body and the outer lens housing, his was stuck in the retracted position, and he got it going again without a problem.

I Dropped my camera model c330 and the lens will not return. I get lens error codes 22 and 12 and the camera will shut down.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Lens error 25 and 15

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Lens error 12 & 22

Our school uses this camera. It's reporting a lens error 12 and the lens does not extend. Bumping it did not work, nor does pulling the lens out with a fingernail.

One teacher said that another school had LUCK by installing a new battery pack. The old one might not hold enough power to fully boot up the camera, causing the lens error.

I have noticed that the battery does not hold a charge for any length of time. This will be our next approach.

Cameras that are dropped, banged or bumped are not covered by a warrantee, so beware.

Lens Error 25

Guess what I tried banging the bottom of my CW330 camera, as suggested by Timewarped, and the lens retracted and the "Lens Error 25" cleared. I can't believe it, you saved me about $80 in repairs. Thanks

Kodak C330 [lens error 14]

I have this camera and I have had this exact error...and I'm sure it was caused from being in my purse and turning on and off all the time. All I did to fix it was push the lens a little bit while it was already retracted and it made a slight popping noise like it was going back onto a track and then it worked perfectly ever since then.
