The ICE Maker just Stooped making Ice ? but the water is ok I still get the chilled cold water. There is a Stupid Red Light Blinking I think Twice then stops, Is that a code? this is just 3 years Old in a NEW house! It came with the house. What do I do? I noticed the botom coils are very hard to clean and full of Dust, How do I clean or KitchenAid figure out a way to work with the cotton dust that builts up. Isn't Overheat the motor over time? Bunch of ****,,, Guess what My next Refrigerator WILL NOT be KitchenAid !

Ice makers have a heating element to thaw the inlet and allow water to flow into them perhaps the heater is broken and it can't get water to make ice. Check the hopper to be sure it has ice in it. If it does check it for obstructions from the hopper to the door.

Here is a tip that I wrote about the reasons why ice makers do not work.

The red light should flash twice , pause then flash twice constantly . If you close the flap on the left side , then the light should go off . This shows the optics (ice maker cut off ) are good .

Check the black tube ( fill tube ) , which puts water into the ice maker , to see if it is iced inside . If so , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . It seeps into the tube and freezes , blocking the water flow .

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then the water valve needs replaced . If it doesn't dump , and stays frozen in the ice maker , replace the ice maker . Also , make sure the coils under the front of the refrig are clean , as this will cause warmer temp in the freezer and the ice maker needs 5 degrees to operate .

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps , replace the water valve . If doesn't dump , replace the ice maker . Also make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc...

Replace the icemaker . The laser receiver (on right side ) is supposed to blink twice then pause then twice repeatedly .Normal. Also clean the coils under fridge .

are the "fingers" of the icemaker pointed toward you and slightly up? if not the icemaker is internally broken . is the red light to the right blinking twice and then a one second pause? if not the emmitter is broken. is the black hose coming from the ceiling blocked with ice ? if so the water vave is broken allowing water to seep in hose and freeze. hope this helps.
