You either have a clog, a damaged fan, orsomething is wrong with the motor ( not as likely ) . Best thing to do is take it to your local vac shop for assessment.

SOURCE: Kirby G 6 but it only blows air out, no suction. Also how do you detach the cloth bag to wash it?

I have the solution for the cloth bag laundering process...

Here is a link to my guide for cleaning the Kirby cloth bag...

It should be helpful. :0)

The Tech Drive problem SHOULD be able to be fixed easily and fairly cheaply by a vac shop or Kirby distributor. There is an adjustment that needs to be made, but it shouldn't require purchasing any parts.

Kirby G4 Vacuum "BOOT"?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The bottom part of the bag, which you referred to as a "Boot" is actually called a Kirby G4 Mini Em-Tor with Fill Tube Assembly. Kirby Part # 199493S. The part is only available to purchase with the fill tube assembly, this is the part that the disposable paper bag connects to inside the cloth outer bag.

Kirby has redesigned this fill tube, as the original design sometimes would cause the inner fill tube to crack. The Mini Em-Tor Fill Tube Assembly, part 199493S comes already assembled with the "boot" at the bottom, and the vacuum bag collar (the part the bag actually attaches to) at the top of it. You will need to remove the cloth outer bag from your old part, and put it onto the new "Boot". The cloth bag connects the "boot" with a special zip tie, which is Kirby Vacuum Bag Clamp. Kirby Part # 196599S. Where it is possible to remove the bag clamp without breaking it, I will warn you that this is no easy task. Spare yourself the aggravation of having to try and remove the clamp, and just cut the bag clamp with a knife or scissors.

You will also have to remove the top of the bag collar at the top of the cloth bag by releasing the fill tube from the inside of the cloth bag.

All of the parts are located on our website, www.govacuum.com. If you have any questions about the repair, you can get me on a live help, chat service located in the top right corner of our website. I'd be happy to walk you through this.

Thanks,

Chris Jones

Kirby Sentria

When you replace the outer bag assembly, you have to make sure that it is turned clockwise untill it fully stops. There is a small switch on body of the Kirby that is only engaged when the bag assembly is installed correctly

Kirby vacuum

The Kirby air flow can be reversed to become a blower (not pump).
This is ideal for blowing up low pressure items such as air beds etc.
Take off the complete bag assembly by twisting at the bottom and unclip at the top.
Fit the flexible hose to where the bag attached, align the arrows and twist fully until located.
Remove the front brush assembly, lift the front head light flap, detach the belt by twisting the square knob to the red position (off). un-clip the front assembly.
Your kirby should be supplied with a box type attachment (air intake guard) that fits on the front covering the motor spindle and making the safety switch.
Once fitted your kirby should now blow.
