Why does my Kitchenaid dishwasher model 8524569 run so long?

It is likely the heater is not working effeciently and takes a long time to heat the water to the set temperature. Try and run the rinse cycle and see if that takes much shorter as this does not need to heat the water. Please provide the full model number- xxx. xxxx or KUD..etc.

No power

test this steps and fix it.God bless you

Thermal Fuse

If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work. The thermal fuse is usually located in the control panel on the control board or mounted to the bottom of the tank behind the lower panel. The thermal fuse can be checked for continuity.

Door Switch

The door switch, or switches, are sometimes called interlock switches. The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running while the door is open. If the dishwasher won't start, the switch or switches might be defective. To access the door switches, remove the control panel or inside door panel - depending on the model. They can be tested for continuity.

Door Latch

If the dishwasher does not start, the door latch assembly might be defective. These are normally made of plastic and cannot be repaired. If the door won't latch and the door latch is broken, replace it.

Main Control Board

The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher won't start the main control board might be defective. You should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced. On some models the touchpad and control panel are sold together and will need to be replaced at the same time.

Timer

The timer allows power to flow to the proper parts at the proper times. If the dishwasher won't start, the timer might be defective. Keep in mind that timers are often misdiagnosed as the cause of a problem. Check other components first before replacing the timer.

No power going to front panel on whirlpool dishwasher gu2455xtsso

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, there is a thermal fuse (also known as a bi-metal) located inside the control panel of the dishwasher. The part number for the thermal fuse replacement is W10258275.

If you type in your model number you can utilize the exploded view parts diagrams at pcappliancerepair.com, appliancepartspros.com or searspartdirect.com to assist you in locating the part. The fuse is listed as item 6 under the "Control Panel Parts" section.

To replace the fuse, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the dishwasher is unplugged or the breaker is turned off.

2. Open the door and remove only the top screws directly behind the control panel.

3. Remove the protective cover from back of the control panel to expose the main control board.

The thermal fuse should be mounted to the control board. If you remove it and take a resistance check, it should read close to 0 ohms, if good. If bad, replace as necessary.

If you have any questions about this repair, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

If you no longer have an owner/operator manual for your dishwasher, you can go to mangemylife.com and obtain one. Just type in your model number under the "Manuals" link and your owner's and installation manuals are available in .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download or print for FREE.

If you need a troubleshooting guide, all these appliances have a technical data sheet inside them that qualified repairmen refer to. The tech sheet includes all troubleshooting data and wiring diagrams. You can access it usually by removig the lower toe panel under the door. If its not located directly behind the panel, its usually located under the wash tub. Some manufacturers place the tech sheet behind the inner door panel.

If you have any questions about this repair, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

This dishwasher has worked fine for years. Suddenly, no power at all to front controls, won't start. There is power at the plug. Any ideas?

Kenmore and other Whirlpool manufactured dishwashers have a thermal fuse located inside the operator console. If the fuse blows it will exhibit the symptoms you describe. It cannot be reset and must be replaced. If you post back with your model number I can confirm how your dishwasher is configured and maybe provide you with a part number.

I have a kenmore elite dishwasher model#665. no power

Nearly all Kenmore dishwashers have a thermal fuse inside the operator console. If the fuse blows, it will exhibit the symptoms you describe. If you post back with a COMPLETE model number (located around the tub opening with the door open), I can verify, provide you with a part number, and explain to steps required to replace it.

NOTE: "665" is the manufacturer code, which identifies the manufacturer of your dishwasher as Whirlpool.

KUDS model clean light flashes

This information may help in your situation. The following link explains how you may be able to clear the blinking clean light problem:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r417123-blinking_clean_light_kenmore_whirlpool

Now, keep in mind all dishwashers are not alike and have different panel options. If you do not have the same set up that I have mentioned, the tech sheet for your dishwasher will explain the touch pad functions. The tech sheet is located behind the lower toe panel under the door and lists the proper sequence of buttons to push for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Just remove the screws that hold the panel in place and remove.

NOTE: Sometimes the tech sheet is located behind the inner door panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the inner panel to access it if this is the case. Make sure you turn off the main power breaker before doing so.

Often, I have found this to be a momentary glitch in operation. However, if the problem keeps reoccuring the number of flashes is an indication of which circuit is causing your problem. Again, refer to your tech sheet to determine this.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you solve your problem.

I have model number KUD 101TJBL0. I have spent about 300.00 on repairs. It keeps blowing the thermal fuse. I have had it replaced sev. times. My repair man has given up on solving the problem. I did read...

Hi,

This applies mainly to Kenmore Dishwashers with the model number 665.15835791 but also to any Whirlpool or Kenmore dishwasher with an electronic display. There are several possible trouble makers on this dishwasher that can cause this problem and we'll go through the most common ones.

1.Bad Door Latch Switches.

There 2 switches you can buy them from online vendors.

2. Blown Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse is located in the control panel, called out as item #18 in this picture. You can check it with a simple continuity test. Or you can jumper it out to see if the dishwasher will start running normally. If it's bad,

3.Control board problems can stem from **** and noise in the dishwasher's electrical supply which make the electronics on the control board go flakey. This problem has been documented by Whirlpool in a tech memo (if your Kenmore model number begins with 665 then, yes, Whirlpool made your dishwasher). Or, it could just be a bad control board, plain n' simple.

The above one is a generic solution, also applicable for Kitchenaid Dishwashers.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
