I have a new Smeg stove and can't get the gas oven going.

The stove should have a safety valve that needs to be removed upon first use , remove that then open the gas and then iginite pilot flame.

Smeg 90cm burner tha lights up and goes off as soon as you let go the knob

For the oven burning cakes check the oven tempeture sensor for the top burner issue would check the igniter harness and the the igniter modules on the harness as well sometimes called spark igniters or infinite switches

For the GE XL44 model, where would i find the pilot light? the stove is not working

There is not pilot light on the stove top since the burner is activated by a spark generate by high voltage to a small ceramic disk with a wire protruding from it by the burner.
You have the have AC Power to the stove and you should hear a clicking when you slightly turn on the burner. Once the burner is on fire then turn the burner control to the desired temperature. If the burner will not light after 4 seconds of clicking sounds turn the burner control off and make sure the round gas diffuser on top of the burner is correctly seated on the burner. It should lock in place and is removable for daily cleaning of the stove. Now try the burner control again in the light position for no more than four seconds to see if it lights.
Do you smell gas? Do you hear clicking when slightly turning the burner knob? If yes to both the stove is working and the top of the burner is not seated correctly. If no on either or both you may have a stove, electrical or gas problem.

Whirlpool electric range burner exploded ''on'' light on always

Hi There,
While the stove is unplugged remove the bad burner from the stove and set the bad burner's control knob to the "OFF" position. Now plug the stove back in. If there is a problem it should trigger the breaker and shut off the stove. If you are not comfortable doing this you might want to ask someone.
The explosion was due to a shorted burner element and once it is removed there shouldn't be any more problems. I hope this was helpful and I hope you get your stove going again.
