It's supposed to reset when it cools down. Put it in the freezer for a few minutes.

The motor will probably be open circuit, take it back under guarantee and let them sort it out. If you mess around you will void your guarantee.

I think I overloaded the blender. Seems like it over heated. now the light on controls goes on but blender does not run when I push buttons. I checked the fuse and its good. What else should I check?

If fuse is good and light is on, then you are getting power. Most likely and very very commonly the motor is fried. I have done it myself with 3 of these things.

The black rubber that blender sits on is breaking off.

The piece that you need is referred to as the coupler. The coupler is a breakway part that is designed to shear and/or wear down in the event that the blender is overloaded. This is to avoid damage to the motor.

The coupler may be purchased individually and is an easy repair that can be done at home. You may purchase the part and access step-by-step replacement instructions at the following link:

Burning smell when used

No need to oil it. The carbon brush maybe sparking already it is located inside the motor. It is due to damaged Armature or overloaded motor.

What to do with the Total Blender when overload appears?

The product has a 3-year warranty:
A reading of “OVERLOAD” indicates an overload on the motor. Turn off
and unplug the unit. Plug in the unit and turn the motor on again to clear the
over-load condition. Check the blender jar for blockage. If overload condition
re-occurs, contact your Blendtec service agent.
