Hi, hope someone can help me. i have a Bosch upright fridge freezer (not sure of model, about 3 years old) that has been faultless until recently. there has been an ice build up at the bottom of the freezer beneath the bottom drawer. the freezer has auto defrost so i don't know why this is still happening. the operating temp is set at -20. i also get a bit of water leaking from the freezer on the left hand side. my wife seems to think it is coming from the back of the freezer when you remove the drawer. any ideas, thanks
Hi,
This is most likely a blocked drain pipe - blocked with ice that is.
Remove all the drawers in the freezer - and stack them up.
With the unit switched off and unplugged, undo the fixings on the rear pannel in the freezer (behind the drawers)
Remove it to see the evaporator coils etc.
At the base there should be a channel - and a hole leading to the drain pipe. This needs unblocking wih a thin flexible cable. -net curtain support wire is ideal, and cheap. or use a short length of insulated cable.
Check it comes out at the rear of the unit onto the evaporator container - situated on top ofthe compressor.
Replace everything and switch on.
Could be an air leak around the door seals. put a piece of paper between the door and the freezer if it slides around easly then the seal is leaking air and moisture into the freezer. Also -20 is extream. you could turn the temp up by 10 or 15 degrees and it may solve the problem and so money!
