Bosch fridge freezer - ice build up and water leak from freezer

Hi, hope someone can help me. i have a Bosch upright fridge freezer (not sure of model, about 3 years old) that has been faultless until recently. there has been an ice build up at the bottom of the freezer beneath the bottom drawer. the freezer has auto defrost so i don't know why this is still happening. the operating temp is set at -20. i also get a bit of water leaking from the freezer on the left hand side. my wife seems to think it is coming from the back of the freezer when you remove the drawer. any ideas, thanks

Hi,
This is most likely a blocked drain pipe - blocked with ice that is.

Remove all the drawers in the freezer - and stack them up.
With the unit switched off and unplugged, undo the fixings on the rear pannel in the freezer (behind the drawers)
Remove it to see the evaporator coils etc.
At the base there should be a channel - and a hole leading to the drain pipe. This needs unblocking wih a thin flexible cable. -net curtain support wire is ideal, and cheap. or use a short length of insulated cable.
Check it comes out at the rear of the unit onto the evaporator container - situated on top ofthe compressor.
Replace everything and switch on.

Thanks for the clear, precise instructions! It was exactly our problem, and was an easy fix (besides finally getting the freezer cleaned out) and it worked like a charm. Thanks again for sharing your experience! Most grateful to find such an eacy fix.

Could be an air leak around the door seals. put a piece of paper between the door and the freezer if it slides around easly then the seal is leaking air and moisture into the freezer. Also -20 is extream. you could turn the temp up by 10 or 15 degrees and it may solve the problem and so money!

How do I get the plastic back panel off without breaking it to defrost the evaporator? Bosch No Frost fridge freezer icing up in top third of fridge

You unplug the refrigerator & let it melt &
work on cleaning up the water

If your getting too much ice build up, it could
be that you have a leak & lost refrigerant or
other system that heats things to prevent that
have failed

Have you turned down the thermostat to see if
that helps?

The fridge has stoped workingbut the freezer is fine

if it starts working ok after the defrost then you might find it will build up ice again.
There might be a fault with a small device called a thermister that senses the ice build up for the defrost controller.

What most likely is happening is the ice build up freezes the fan that blows the cold air to the fridge compartment.and around the freezer.

Bosch intelligent frost free 88

We have the same and I think it is because the freezer door bounces open when we shut the fridge door. Then the freezer compartment ices up, the fan clogs up with ice and cannot blow cold air into the fridge, and the fridge gets warm and the milk goes off.
Solution? We have bought one of those child safety clips (search for fridge safety clip or lock) to hold the freezer door closed.
Simple design error. Expected better from Bosch :-(

Bosch fridge not cooling freezer fine

if back wall of freezer has ice or thick build up you may have a defrost problem or if not the evaporator fan motor could be bad, not moving cold air from freezer to refrigerator.

Bosch stand alone freezer Intelligent 32 - how to defrost

Hi
I have the same refrigerator and found the manual;
"The refrigerator compartment was programmed to defrost automatically meaning you do not have to constantly clean and dry it. Copy from the manual"
Also have a look in the back for the drain outlet - very small. If that is clogged up it also cause water on the inside.

Bosch fridge leaking water

Now I think I have other things wrong with mine, after leakage problem the refrigeration compartment wont cool anymore but the freezer part remains working as usual.Ive nailed this down to one of the following not working... Thermostat / timer / defrost heater. So one or more of these needs replacing.Im just trying to look for a manual which shows the nuts and bolts or the refrigerator (not the "How to use" type manual which I have).
