This is normally caused by a badly sealing door gasket. It pulls in moist warm air and deposits it near the evaporator.
Your manual says it has auto-defrost, so if it is icing up, it means that the defrost timer, or the defrost heater is faulty. Service call or a new one.
The drip tray should be firmly fixed to the top of the compressor unit - that gets quite warm during each cooling cycle. At the end of each cooling cycle the warming panel is switched on for a short time to melt the frost so the water drips into the tray shortly after the most heat is available to evaporate it and shortly after that the tray should be dry.
How can such a simple system fail?
Perhaps the tray is loose, perhaps the fridge is sited in a draught or perhaps there is a moist atmosphere in the fridge creating more frost and therefore too much water.
At the back of most fridges is a small channel with a drain hole. The condensate drips out of this hole through a small pipe and usually onto a tray on top of the motor. At the motor it simply evapourates. Sometimes when cleaning the fridge this pipe can get pushed off at the back so water drips through the back and onto the floor.
In some Refrigerators there is tray below the freezer section and there is a small hole in the tray. Water dripping from the tray enters a hole below in the back and goes out to a chamber.
If the hole is covered with dirt or if you place something in the line between these holes, water will drip and collect in the bottom of the refrigerator.
HI, your intuitions are correct. this is defiantly a thermostat issue here. replacing this defective thermostat will fix this abnormal issue you are having with your unit.
When a unit of this nature cannot control the Coldness level, it is always due to a defective thermostat.
If the compressor is running then it could be one of the following:
The compressor isn't pumping properly.
The thermosat has failed.
It has lost refrigerant or there is a blockage.
Not alot of help I know but without seeing the fridge it's hard to say.
There are several things to check for: The condensing defrost tray under the fridge can crack or develop a hole and leak onto the floor. A door gasket not closing properly may cause sweating and leak onto the floor. Some fridge's have a humidity switch inside the fridge that should be turned on to prevent sweating on the center bar between the fridge and freezer section. If your fridge has developed a frost free failure problem, often the frost will travel down the suction line at the back of the fridge and drip water on the floor. The heat exchanger tubing can separate and also sweat and drip on the floor. A kit to repair a separated heat exchanger line, comes with instructions as well. Ice maker and chilled water fill lines can crack and leak as well, this is fairly common with the plastic lines as they can dry out and crack.

Hi thanks for your question. the problem with your fridgethethat the drain tube is clogged up. the drain goes down between the walls, down to the drip tray, at the bottom by the drain pan. to repair. . the fridge has to be turned off for at least 24 hrs. to thaw the ice in the drain tube. then using a small plasti, push small hose up the drain tube, the bottom at the drain tray. blow up the tube to clear. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer.thanks.
