Changing motors Will a 1998 vinE motor replace a 2004 vinE motor?My 2004 motor seized but l have a good 1998 motor.

Yes, same block setup, with most all attachments also. should be an easy pull and remove.

This is caused by either a broken wire or, more likely, a seized motor. When the motor is seized it has to draw a lot more current to try and work, this will blow the fuse. Check the motor and wiper arm are free to move easily.

MOTOR SEIZED LACK OF OIL.SHE COULD HAD OIL LEAK. LOW OIL WARNING LIGHT BULB COULD HAVE NOT BEEN WORKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ENGINE LOCKED UP.IF ENGINE OIL WONT LOW. TIMING BELT COULD HAVE BROKEN.

first check to see if motor will turn over put socket on bolt on crankshaft pulley if motor doesn't turn over u have a seized motor
if it does turn over than i remove tranny and check to make sure flywheel is bent or cracked

it could be seized on the locating dowls,also could be seized in the spigot shaft bearing ,try bouncing the gearbox up and down while prying at the same time

If the motor is seized you'll have to either rebuild it or replace it. Sorry for the bad news. Good luck

The motor has probably seized and burnt out, not that expensive

Find and replace the Blower fan relay, not sure where it is on your VW but it's common to be in with the fuse box by the battery. Good luck and hope this helps. When the relay goes bad from the heat of the electrical current, it seizes and does not disengage keeping the connection causing the ran to keep running. 

The factory procedure is to remove from the top. You need to remove the inner fender to remove harmonic balancer. Tight quarters for this job. Some garages have told me that remove these from the bottom, preference I guess but I prefer the to use the factory procedure barring a time-saving shortcut.

What is wrong with the current engine? If it is seized get back to me.
