Hi Cedric
Yes the chord is the charging cable and the download/upload cable.
You will plug it into the usb port on your computer for charging.
You will need Windows Media Player installed in your computer ...after it is installed add your songs to Windows Media Player, then plug your Mp3 player in with Windowns Media Player running, your mp3 player will be recognized and then you can add the songs you added to Windows Media Player.
Please take time to rate me

If you get an error message "Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB device into the computer's USB port or the un-powered USB hub that is attached to the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive current that the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, you need to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer's USB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.
Batter is not replaceable - go to www.usasupport.philips.com and get the firmware upgrade for the player - or, you can just open the Philips Device Manager and click on the "Update" button
TGE has released firmware upgrades to address problems with the unit at their home site - make sure of the model you have, and it is always best to post which model you have when making a post. Their firmware upgrade page is http://www.tgegroup.com/en/support/users.htm
Mine did the same thing. The hdd1630 seems to let some of the songs you don't want any more snake their way back into your playing list. You might want to try deleting all the songs off or it and re-syncing the player. This works for me about 98% of the time. Though, one or two ghost songs did pop up.. Any way, I hope this helps.
