New Intex FP621 4000 Pool Pump Noisy

After turning on the pump, outlet valve shoots water across the pool for 2 seconds then slowly decreases. The inlet valve seems to make a vacuum like noise thereafter. Suction is a little weak. Anyone know what could be the cause of this? Thanks!

It is a filter/pump. I tried bleeding the air out on the top of the filter with the same result. The filter is whistle clean.

Get 1.5" pvc pipe, 2 elbows & 2 rubber reducers with 4 hose clamps. Connect one reducer to inlet valve, then insert pipe down to elbow, Another pipe across to other elbow and short pipe to reducer on pump inlet. The outlet hose can remain stock.

I have a 16 x 48 intex pool with the 1inch inlet and outlet. I purchased the intex 4000 pump. The attachments are too big for the inlet and outlet so i then purchased the adapters. The plungers are very noisy and allow air to get into the pump. I removed them and hooked the hoses up to the adapters directly. That worked as long as the adapters were new. This year the seal comes loose and allows air to get into the pump. I even tried allowing the top nut to be loose to allow air to escape. This year nothing works. The pump is just too strong for the holes. I was considering cutting the holes bigger and glueing seals on there but i was concerned about creating weak spots in the pool. I am tired of spending money on it so i did the redneck thing. I can say that because well, you might consider me one. I took the inlet hose off the connector and plugged the hole with one of those little black things. I took the hose and run it up through the hole in between the liner and the poles and down into the pool. If you run it over the top it will not work correctly. Take the hose and tie them together between the two sides as best you can to keep the hose in the pool. If you look at the smaller intex pools that dont have holes, that is how they have the pump hooked to the pool. VOILA! You have an airtight inlet to the pump. You do not need to do that to the outlet because its not sucking water its just pushing it. So, just hook the hose up as you wish. When you need to clean the filter, I put wash clothes in the hoses to plug them and voila. No air gets into the filter. Done! It is actually keeping my pool clean this year. Also, i purchased one of those aqua vacuums and it does work great for this pool. Once you get the big stuff, sweep it with a pool broom and the filter will do its job. You can vacuum these pools with the filter type pumps. Next time, i will purchase a sand filter and be done with it. Happy swimming with less work.

You are right, this pump is just too aggressive for the inlet valve. It started in my second year, but completely failed the system in the 3rd year. Lots of noise as air was sucked in the inlet valve. The biggest problem this caused me, beyond airlocks, was my saltwater system was coding that it had a problem with the plates. There was no scaling on the plates as is usually found. upon bypassing the valve the problem went away and the whole system ran smooth and quietly. I wish Intex would upgrade this part to remedy the problem.

Is this a pump, or a filter/pump. There is an "air relief" on the top of some intex filterpumps and you must bleed the air by turning the knob on the top counter-clockwise just a little. Is the filter clean?

  • Anonymous Jul 26, 2009

Can't help too much more except once I left the water plugin once inside the strainer cap in the pool. Also, a bad seal from the pool to the inlet of the pump/filter could start sucking air and then the pump could get air-locked. sounds like air is getting into it somewhere

Water pressure in to the pool has vanished. No

CHECK FOR A BLOCKAGE IN BETWEEN THE OUTLET AND THE PUMP MAY HAVE HAIR OR TRASH SIDE OF THE PUMP AS THERE IS A BUILT IN STRAINER THERE. ALSO CHECK YOUR PLUNGER VALVE AND SEE IF ITS CLEAR.

Water flow seems to restricted and the hose caves in

I FOUND ON MY INTEX POOL WHEN HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE IT HAD BLOCKAGE BETWEEN THE 1 1/4 HOSE ADAPTER ON THE INLET SIDE OF THE CONNECTION SUPPLYING THE PUMP AND THE BLUE FILTER SCREEN BEFORE THE OUTLET VALVE. MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING THERE AS THE STRAINER BASKET WILL NOT CATCH ALL THE FINE DEBRIS. TAKE YOUR OUTLET HOSE OFF AND OPEN THE VALVE AND SEE IF IT IS RETRICTED.

New pool and keep getting code 90. intex sent a replacement system and I'm still getting code 90

code 90 indicating low flow.

Do you have a good flow from inlet to outlet? You should be shooting a pretty good stream (wave form) across the pool. You can remove the filter from the pump and run it without to see if you eliminate the error. if that works you've got some gummy filters going on that require cleaning or replacing. (daily in my case) If the error persists check the flow sensor on the chorinator. Be sure the direction is correct, the water coming into the chlorinator follows the direction on the electrolytic plate box. (usually there is arrow on this. Other thing is, how loud is the system? Are you hearing lots of air entering the intake of the pump? This can lead to air lock on the pump and little to no flow in the system. If so, bleed the air of using the relief valves at the top of the filter and at the input of the filter. Also listen to ensure that the inlet at the pool is not allowing air to be sucked into the lines. This can be due to a loose connection or bad gasket at the inlet valve of the pool.

How do I hook my 633T intex pump to my 15'x42" pool? The strainers do not attach to the black things inside the pool.

We just cut the holes bigger in the side of the pool, it works great now. Just got to make sure you do not cut it to big! I do nnot understand why they can"t make it standard.

Hope this helps!!!!!!

Pool pump intex 51 pumps water but return flow is low

if you cartridge is completly clean then start by disconecting the out tube that goes to the pump housing
sometimes debris gets caught there entering your pump.
a little hair causes other things to back up

once you are satisfird that those 2 things are ready then close it all up and open the bleeder cap on top of the cartridge holder

Now let water in from the suction side
when water starts coming out of the bleeder cap then open the return side
Now turn on the puimp
let it run for 20 seconds and then close your bleeder

Should be working fine after that.

dont forget to leave the bleeder cap alone on the bottom of the canister unless you are draining the water from the canister to clean it. As soon as you are done close it back up

Problems with Intex Krystal Clear Model 635 Pool Filter Pump 1500

No, the pump should not be noisy. It sounds like you have picked up a foreign object in the pump housing. you may have to pull the face off to determine. OR the pump/motor is indeed defective and should be returned.
