Battery indicator, interior and head lamps flicker

2004 for escape. recently(6mths ago) I replaced the alternator and belt and battery. more recently I've noticed the battery indicator, interior, and head lamps flicker. I have tested alternator, battery, grounds and electrical system. every thing checks out OK. alternator and battery are charging correctly. I found on line that the catalyst puts off extreme heat causing a surge in the voltage regulator. I am at a total loss. please help as the problem continues.

I have a 2004 Ford Escape XLT with a V6. . and the battery light flickers under acceleration. The battery and connection were testted and both were ok.

Hello, If you have not put on a Serpetine belt in some time, then your belt has probably stretched to the point where it does not grip the pulleys good. You can also have a weak Tensioner pulley as well.

You need to replace both the belt and the Tensioner pulley to keep the Alternator pulley tight so nothing loses its, grip. Sometimes you will not hear a squeal from the belt, and the dash light will flicker.

2004 Escape--have replaced 2 batteries and an alternator--still battery light flickers, then vehicle will completely lose power while driving. Last mechanic said it was a switch problem, but 2 weeks later...

Check on NHTSA.com, Service Bulletin 012113 and see if you are in the included group of cars with ignition switch problems.
If the batteries were destroyed, you have a bigger problem than just a switch. If the batteries were just rundown, the switch was a possibility. The engine quitting can be from the ignition switch.
The technician should have been able to get a reading from your car to show the same thing as your battery light. He should have done a wiggle test.

If the battery light comes on at high speed, the belt may be slipping from a weak tensioner or a stretched belt. Also check your starter connections for loose ends and corrosion.

Replacing alternator in 2004 escape

Have the whole battery/charging sytem tested. If it has an external voltage regulator or a bad battery, these things can kill a perfectly good alternator.

2004 Ford Escape Electrical problem

This is a problem with the alternator. Diode rectifiers and voltage regulator replacement will give this baby a 14.2 voltage output. In this 3L V6 SUV removal of the alternator requires removing the right tire, the right axis and undercovering to reach the 6G alternator. It is a 133mm rectifier with a motorcraft, The serpentine belt is better removed from the bottom. Also keep a bucket on hand to recover the oil from the transmission.

Flickering Headlights and Dim interior lights

Definately an electrical problem....first off, check the battery and alternator connections to make sure they are tight. The problem has to be before the fuse box because the headlights and interior lights are on different fuses. It sounds to me like a loose wire, corroded battery terminals, or an alternator that is going bad. An alternator is a relatively easy and cheap fix. They cost about $100 and require removing a few wires, 3 bolts, and the serpentine belt.
