Hi, have had loads of mp3 players and this has happenede quite frequently (im, sure you have tried it with different headphones, but if you havent do so) It happens when the headphone jacks, bends the metal contact in the socket, so you have to push in the headphone to on side to get stereo, so annoying! Have fixed this a couple of usb stick mp3 players before by taking them apart and cleaning the contacts with deoxit 5% (its a contact cleaner) then bending the contact back a little bit, sometimes its worked other times it hasn't, but I was only doing it on cheap £20 players
Your player is a nice 6gb player, and I really wouldnt reccomend taking it apart in any way, if you do you will end up voiding your warranty
If its still under manufactures warranty (between 1 and 2 years) and even if its not get in touch with sansa by email

make sure you describe the problem clearly, giving your model number, and any serial numbers/product numbers you see on your player, Hope this helps

My Sansa will only play through the right speaker/headphone unless you jiggle the cord and hold it in the perfect spot, then it will play through both speakers/headphones. Is there a way to fix this...

This is a common problem, it is the lead in the headphones get a new headphone set that will sort you,IF it is the actual jack, soldered onto the motherboard, this then will required to be resoldered. I think, however just replacing them will work fine.

Hi, my sansa e250 has sound come out of only one head phone no matter how many headphones i try the same happens

The jack in the e250s is not made of adamantium, so it can actually go bad; however, if you try different headphones and thus determine that either:
  - All the headphones simultaneously went bad in one side
  - Your left ear has issues
  - The Sansa is only cranking out one channel; and
-the jack feels a little off, or
-perfectly good mp3s are being played off-balance; AND the balance has not been misconfigured in Settings.

...well then, the plot's moving forward and you can get your ear fixed, or stop the cat from killing your headphones, or re-load Sansa or Rockbox.org firmware, or fix the Settings, or see to the appropriate repair to the jack (depending on your warrantee status and skill with soldering irons and ordering off Jameco.com etc.)

Headphone jack

I had to take mine apart and re-solder the headphone jack. It was amazingly easy, but if you don't do electronics repairs, I would suggest getting help. Everything is very tiny! This type of head phone jack is modular and soldered directly to the tiny internal circuit board. It is poorly anchored by the outside of the case where you plug into it, so most of the stress of pluggin and unplugging the headphones is put directly on the three tiny little solder joints. This causes one (or more) of them to break eventually. Mine lasted only about two months. And, I was carefull very gentle with it! This will cause one side or the other, or both speakers to lose their signal so that only one side works or worse, niether side works anymore. Consequently, I don't unplug mine anymore. If it breaks again, I may try to fix it. It only takes a few minutes. But, I'm hoping I don't ever get to that point.

Audio Problems with Sansa e260

apparently you may need to defragment your player with disk defragmenter because the mp3 has a hard time getting the pieces of your file fast enough to not hear an almost unnoticeable pop or crackle. if this isn't the reason, it is probably the jack, try a different pair of headphones even. or check the settings on the program synchronizing as it may be syncing the files at a noticeably lower sound quality. Or you are drag and dropping which may not be recommended for inexperienced users. no offence :).
