My cable tv service technician stopped by today to check on the reason as to why I was receiving prolonged and intermittent snowy reception on my DVR Motorola DCT3416 I. He consulted with his lead...

Seems logical to disconnect and remove the VCR and plug the cable right into the tv.

If the problem still persists after unplugging the power cord to the VCR and running the coax cable straight into the tv, then you know the VCR has nothing to do with the problem.

It is important to unplug the power cord to the VCR to test this and not just switch it off since it might be some kind of electrical interference generated by the VCR whenever it's plugged in.

If it's the DVR then I guess exchanging it for a new one is your only choice.

Good luck.

Will not light or eject VCR or DVD

Sounds like a hardware problem.

Make sure you're plugged into a good outlet, carefully check the power cable to check if a pet might have chewed though it, etc.
And if the AC cord is detachable (usually one end is special) and you have an alternate, try swapping them.

If it's still under warranty, call Philips technical or customer support for a possible replacement.

have you checked to see the prongs/ground aren't loose or broken off?
The cord might be bad, or the power converter inside could be bad. do any lights come on at all?

No power to dvd-vcr player

check the circuit breaker. plug something into the outlet that you know works and see if it turns on.
dont think that there is a fuse inside. If the cables seems good ( ohm it out) then the unit might be shot. sorry...

Have cable tv and wanting to tape a certain channel

I would suggest that you disconnect the VCR from any signal source. UNPLUG the VCR from the power source [a/c] for at least one hour, more if possible. Before you are ready to plug the machine into a/c attach an antenna to the antenna INPUT, the VCR output goes to input of tv. [ DON'T attach cable box, or any such machine to the input of VCR.] Plug vcr into outlet and turn ON. Place TV-VCR switch on TV. [no remote control??] Change the channel MANUALLY, one channel at a time. If you see tv stations as you change the channel [KEEP changing until you have reached the " end of the line " of broadcast channels.] then you are good.Connecting the vcr to a cable box[ANY KIND!] you can only RECORD through the vcr what you watch on cable.

POWER PROBLEMS

T.V. DOSEN'T WORK AT NO MATTER WHERE I PLUG IN THE HOUSE.

Nov 03, 2008 | Protron PLTV3250 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

No power

1. Check that the AC outlet is working.
2. Check that the AC power cord is ok with no damage.
3. Unplug the unit, remove the cover and check for a blown fuse.
If blown, replace with a value that is the EXACT value as the original.
4. If the fuse blows again or the unit is still dead, you most likely have a problem in the power supply section.

In that case, you'll need to take it to be serviced.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good Luck!

Doesn't power ON

If you have no indication of power at all,(no lights,no display)the fuse is the first component to check but the vcr has be unplug from the wall when you remove the top cover and remove the fuse to check it.Be carefu.
