Bathtub with shower above my bathroom is leaking water by drips through my ceiling into my bathroom in floor exactly under it. Woman told me a plumber used a snake to get a ball of hair out of pipe

How is best way to fix this problem? She added that the pipe was old and plumber probably broke it.

You'll have to cut out a section of the ceiling around the leak (suggest 1' x 1') and see what's damaged in the drain piping. Look for a crack in the pipe or trap, then saw out the broken section and replace. Replace the drywall, tape and repair, then paint the ceiling.

I had this problem in a newer house that turned out to be a loose drain fitting -- just not tightened up fully when originally installed.

This is a job for a professional as sheetrock damage, can be hard to piece in place new rock, has to be cut along the studs to replace do not just take a peice out of the middle.

Should I replace my only bathtub with a shower?

that is up to you
but consider this
Age or physical problems makes baths difficult and dangerous
so a shower stall with a seat is a better properisition
next showering last for around 7 minutes and that amount of water is less than 1/2 tub unless you stand under the shower until the hot water runs out
lastly , I have never considered it hygienic to wash you face in the same water that you wash your rear in

How do u know if u he a leaking pine between wall even if shower is turned off

I assume that you mean a leaking pipe. If it is leaking the water has to be going somewhere. If the shower is on the second floor then look for water stains on the ceiling of the room under the shower. If the shower is on the first floor go to the basement or crawl space and look for water signs there.

Bathroom leaks from upstairs bathroom

There are several causes for this, but I need to know.... Which fixture leaks ( toilet,sink,shower/tub) ? If you don't know, you'll need to determine which is leaking. Is the wetness coming through the ceiling, on the floor, under the sink, etc.?
I'd like to help but I need more info.
Hope this helps!!

Water is leaking from my downstairs air conditioning vent

I seriously doubt it's the AC. It may be the draing in the upstairs shower, If it's a water line it is a very small leak and is probably puddling in you ceiling. if not nbeing absorbed. Best thing is contact your homeowners insurance because you are going to not only have a plumber to deal with , but a mols issue as well. Sorry, good luck.

Stop leak in a bottle absolutely does not work, look closely there should be some sort of access panel (maybe well hidden) to get under there.
