Press the MENU button. Select Setup (the double-arrow pointing right) and press the OK button. Use cursor-up/down to select Setup 1 (wrench-hammer-1 icon) and press cursor-right. Use cursor-up/down to select the speech-bubble icon and press OK. Use the cursor keys to select the desired language and press OK. Press MENU to exit.
1. Try to use another USB port to connect the camera to the computer. 2. If that does not help at all, you might want to check if it works well when connecting the camera to another computer. 3. If it does not work either, replace the Olympus' USB cable first to diagnose further. (CB-USB6)
Put in another SD or SDHC memorycard to test if it is the camera or the memorycard which is faulty. Are you sure you put in the correct type of card? Only SD / SDHC will fit correctly in the camera.
As describes in the user manual page 15, After putting ON the camera, you can press the Menu button to get the Function menu and to set the mode you want, using the Left/Right direction of the wheelcontroller. (How to use the camera menu, see page 4 of the user manual.)
