Question about Samsung SYNC SGH-A707 Cellular Phone

Front display is orange

My sync has a red/orange streak in thefront display. att says the screen is cracked. I can't see any damage. Got a replacement and after 3 weeks, the replacement has the same problem. I had no insurance and att wants $210 for the now broken replacement.

    I am curious about the (phantom) cracked display. Is this somewhat common with this phone or am I just unlucky?

    I have an orange line running vertically through the front display. It's looks like a crack too. I think the screen may crack just from the pressure of holding the phone to your ear with one finger on the top half.
    Cingular replacement had me pull the battery to inspect the water exposure dot on the inside. Since it was red and indicated some exposure to moisture, they rejected any claim even though I was calling about a cracked LCD. Every thing else works fine on the phone. I believe that the screen failed physically under normal use.

    My phone has the same problem. Screen worked fine for four months, then the orange blob appears. There is NO sign of any type of damage to the phone or screen!. Called ATT warranty department, they say is phone was damaged and now the phone has no warranty remaining. They were able to tell the phone was damaged( they concuded this sight unseen and from hundreds of miles away, pretty impressive). The orange blob has several postings on the WEB on this Samsung Sync. Thanks to the useless ATT customer service, I will look forward to changing cell phone service.

    I Have the same exact problem . I returned my sync 2 weeks ago they sent me a replacement and in less then 2 weeks the front display was defected again I Just recieved my old phone with a bill for $210.00 Ny phone is cased and hasn't been dropped I feel this is a basic defect in the phone.

    I bought two of these from ATT last January. On both, the front screens are now blue and orange. One after 5 months, the other after 9 months. AT&T store where I bought them says they were damaged by the user (me). No way. I am going back and and making a small scene and putting this on record. The warranties expire in two weeks. I will not use 'ATT if they continue this foolishness.

    same problem came up for me 2-3 months ago after owning it for about 6
    months. the inside screen is fine so i can still use it, but the
    outside screen cracked while in my pocket. at first i thought maybe
    it's some glitch because the outer plastic didn't seem damaged so i
    restarted the phone, but i still got the same colors.

    eventually it got
    bigger, and after contemplating sending it back to claim a defect, i
    happened to stop by the kiosk at the mall where i bought the sync and
    asked some guy if it can be replaced under warranty. first thing he
    said when he saw it was "it's cracked, they won't cover that" and i
    asked if there was anything i could do about it, and he said "you can
    buy a new phone" and then tried to sell me his own bb curve...how lame.

    hopefully i can find a broken phone on ebay and use its working lcd module (from what i've seen, the front and back lcd are one piece..can someone confirm?)

    I've had a Sync for almost a year and my front screen just cracked, giving me the dreaded orange blob on the front..it looks like the sun with a corona around it. I didn't drop the phone or stress it in any way. Its obviously a defect in the design..I know that I shouldn't have bought Korean garbage, and I'm sure nobody is gonna repair it. Everything about cellular phones and service plans is an absurd rip-off.

    Same problem here. Mine just started the orange front screen thing yesterday. I can't see any damage as far as being cracked or anything. I keep it in a case and so far have not dropped it or anything. From reading here it sounds like a phone defect. If it costs $200+ to fix i will just keep my orange screen.

    Yup, same here. The phone was in my pocket and working fine as I went to dinner, I didn't fall or run into anything or any other thing that could cause it to break, and then I get home and the screen is flickering. Now there's that orange **** flooding the outer screen, so now I can't see when I have a message (not that it was ever THAT easy with the quickly turning-off screen), and I can't use the active flip to answer it anymore. Same time frame, about 8-9 months.

    I have had two of these phones and the problem is a cracked lcd screen under the outer clear plastic shell. It takes virtually no pressure at all to break this. You can do it just by sitting down with the phone in your front pocket or by exerting pressure on the front screen with your hands when holding it. Samsung is aware of this problem (according to the retailer that I bought my second phone from) but they won't admit it's a design problem and claim it physical damage which is not covered. The Samsung D807x, a slider, has the same problem. Your best solution is to stay away from Samsung as there is no fix and they won't support their product.

    I have 3 SGH-A707's which is now been replaced with teh Samsung Sync. I'm 2 weeks past the annual purchase and one just blacked out with the lower 1/2 looking like a line graph. If I open the phone and close the front display works, but the inside screen does NOT. Another of my famous 'Syncs' has lost/dropped calls since day one. Sims card was replaced, but still drops call or displays emergency calls only.



    And AT&T wants $210 for a new one; That would be out of my pocket $640 times 2 = $1,280 for 3 phones for 1 year. Hmmmmm. They HAVE to have better options!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Same problem for me. I went to sleep and woke up to find the LCD cracked.

    Best solution....

    Take your own or your girlfriend's nail polish. Paint the window black. It hides the orange splotch.

    Then set your phone so that you hit a button to answer it and not active flip.

    No, this is a common problem with this phone. Mine did the same thing, cracking without reason. Frustrating, especially when you go to the AT&T store and they tell you that You've invalidated your warranty because of it.

Look on eBay for this same phone to see if there are any phones that you can buy for cheap that have this part. Just don't buy one with a broken screen :-P

I HAD MY FONE FOR 2 MONTHS AND WITH NORMAL WEAR THE SEREEN JUST BROKE ONE NIGHT 2 OF MY FRIENDS AND MY BROTHER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THIS IS BULL.

My A707 phone screens (both) just stayed blank when I tried to turn it back on after charging. I carry it closed and use a bluetooth headset for ordinary use. So maybe there really is a problem with this phone!

You can remove the cracked screen on the front display by removing the outer red shell GENTLY! Then extract the shattered screen. You will have a very bright but clear display.

My husband experienced this same thing with his phone. We called att who told US that the phone was under warranty and they would send a replacement free of charge if he would send them his broken phone. They sent us back his old phone (missing the battery and cover) and new sync phone along with a bill for $210.00 which was not our agreement. We would never have purchased another sync. If we were planning on spending $210.00 we'd have picked a phone that wouldn't break in 2 weeks. They said pay or we'll terminate your service. My husband wanted to pay to keep his service. I said tell them to reimburse us for the first phone and then we'd pay the $210.00. Still waiting to hear from them one year later...and we haven't paid for the new sync yet.

Cracked Iphone 4 screen with distorted messed up colors.


Hi Connor,
Since the iphone is dropped from 4 feet, there would have been a physical damage to the display. If the phone is still under warranty or Apple care protection, you could take the iphone to Verizon store and replace the internal display. If the iphone is out of warranty, they might charge you for replacing the display for the phone. :-)

The screen went black with a red streak up the middle


Hi,what makes the phone to display phone half of it is white with this big black dot to the side or red streak up the middle, is because there is a flex inside that connected to the screen of the phone that makes the phone display is faulty and it needs to be replaced so that the screen can be as one again.

My question concerns a Toshiba Regza model 52HL167 which displays a perfectly normal picture on the right half of the screen and a blurred and streaked image on the left half of the screen. The lcd...


This will most likely be down to your screen controller board, Take the back of the tv and look towards the top middle, You will see your screen cable go into a rectangular board this is sometimes covered by a metal plate, remove this and check Ebay or Google for a replacement, there will be a part number on the board

Projector projects red screen.


My take on this...if that pin was *shorted* to another pin in the connector and not just bent, you could be looking at a damaged video input section. The pins in the video connector consist of the 3 color signals(red--green--blue), their individual grounds, and syncing. If this has indeed happened, which is *VERY* easy to do, the projector must be repaired by a service facility.

Screen is damaged - is it replaceable?


While actually replacing the screen is a simple task, the cost of the replacement could eassily be the same or close to a replacement set. Check in your area for the cost of a replacement panel. I suspect the cost will be too high to be practical. It loks like this may end up in the trash.

The LCD panel will have to be replaced. Contact a Philips service agent for cost.

The cost of a replacement screen will probably outweigh the cost of a replacement TV.

If you have household insurance, it should cover accidental damage.

I have a 6 year old Samsung PCJ522R 52" TV.


It sounds like at least one of 3 "IHVT",s popped. in short, a "IHVT" is a high voltage transformer. It will have to be replaced along with any other parts that were damaged in the process.
They do produce a strong odor when they pop!!

It is repairable but at a price. there is a good chance that parts will have to be ordered.

you might consider buying a new LCD HDTV instead of fixing this one.

Front Display LCD is Cracked. Where can I get the part?


The front LCD on my Sync broke within 2 weeks while it was in my pocket (no dropping needed). I also agree that there is a design flaw with the front screen. Unfortunately, ATT won't take returns on damaged phones which I tried numerous times arguing the phone was defective and it wasn't user negligence. To make me more furious, one manager tried to sell me a case for my now broken phone. I recommend finding a non-functional phone on eBay. I got one for 20 bucks + a backup battery and a car charger.
