After using a few times the straps are too tight to fit round child. Can't fasten clips. How do you adjust them please?

Some clasps have holes in them to allow you to adjust the straps in smaller steps than removing links.

It sounds as though yours in one of these.

The pins are spring loaded just like the ones used to fasten the strap to the lugs of the watch, so you can apply a probe to one end of the pin with one hand, while applying a gentle force in the direction you wish the strap to go with the other hand.

Then do the same with the other side and repeat as needed.

After several months of struggle to find written instructions how to attach the central harness adjustment strap (The one with metal anchor at the end) to the red clip (buckle) strap as seems to be shown in instructions.
I have found number to temtex uk company that supplies nania products to argos on 01162844910, while emailing them on [email protected] had no result. There's no need to attach the two. Central harness adjuster strap has to be detached and pulled by it's front end as far as it goes.
While red clip strap threads through the gap between backrest and the base.
And red clip strap threads through hole (bracket) at the back of the base.

I just noticed my car seat had a safety recall back in 2007 and noticed you had the same recall on the 22150. I just ordered a new kit from Cosco (which was free) to replace the faulty parts. Here's the recall notice ans website to go to: http://www.safety1st.com/usa/eng/News/Detail/309-

Dorel Juvenile Group Announces a Voluntary Safety Recall of the Harness Adjustment ******** Certain Cosco®, Safety 1st® and Eddie Bauer® Brand Child Restraint Systems
Columbus, IN August 30, 2007- Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) is issuing a voluntary safety recall for certain Cosco®, Safety 1st® and Eddie Bauer® brand child restraint systems manufactured during November 2003 through December 2005. Although no injuries have been reported, there is a potential for the harness adjustment strap to loosen during use. If this were to occur, the harness may be loose around the child, possibly increasing the risk of injury in a crash. We feel that it is important to replace the harness adjustment strap.

Model numbers affected are:
Cosco®: Alpha Omega®, Alpha Omega EliteTM: 22150, 22155, 22180, 22269; Eddie Bauer®: 3-in-1, Deluxe 3-in-1, Deluxe Convertible: 22740, 22750, 22755, 22756, 22757, 22770; Safety 1st® : Alpha EliteTM, Alpha Omega®, Alpha Omega EliteTM, Alpha SportTM, InteraTM, EnspiraTM: 22151, 22450, 22451, 22452, 22453, 22455, 22460, 22480, 22481

The model number and date of manufacture may be found on a sticker located on the side or back of the child restraint system.

DJG will contact all registered owners and provide them with information on how to obtain a free repair kit to replace the harness adjustment strap. Those consumers who have not registered their product should visit www.djgusa.com or call 800-219-0509 to order a free repair kit. The affected seats should not be returned to the retailer.

DJG encourages parents to obtain and install the repair kit as soon as possible. Parents may continue to use the child restraint system as directed in their instruction manual. Parents should be sure to adjust the harness adjuster strap snugly each time they put their child in the child restraint system. If there is any difficulty adjusting the harness adjustment strap, or it does not remain tight, DJG suggests using a different child restraint system until the repair kit has been installed.

To check for harness slippage:
(1) Fully tighten the harness, (2) pull on the harness straps without pressing or lifting the harness adjustment lever. If movement occurs, the harness is experiencing slippage.

If the pin keeps coming out, then it seems likely that it is bent.

This can happen if the watch is fastened very tightly and your hand bends back until it strains the pin.

I suggest that you go to a jeweler and have a new one fitted.

on my bike it was just a tight fitting. and teh same with most of the ones i have worked on i havnt seen any that have fasteners

What year is your Volo. Different years adjust differently. The newer ones have 3 height adjustment slots and a slider that adjusts the strap itself. They do not adjust way down though and even with teh straps as tight as they will go, they are still a little loose on my 15 month old granddaughter. I have found that buy tightening the waist straps it does keep her a little more secure.

Ok. First don't panic, I did the same thing with mine! lol. In the front of the seat where your childs legs hang, there is a velco flap. Lift it up and you'll see a metal button(but it doesn't look like a button). Push it in and at the same time pull one of the shoulder straps. This will loosen the strap. Then adjust accordingly. If you remove the back plastic piece you will see all the straps underneath if you want to eventually replace them. You can also adjust the height from the back if needed. Good Luck!

Are you talking about moving it from the lower slots to the upper one for baby/toddler size? If so, have the car seat out, the back facing you. Carefully unlace the straps from the metal toggles, if you have a problem remembering, grab your digital camera and shoot a few photos as you go, this is such a life saver in so many experiences (hubby used this when rebuilding a car engine--smooth).
Anyway, undo 1 side at a time to pull out to the seat side, move it up, then do the other side.
You know to adjust for the length when fitting little person in to use the toggle at the front bottom to pull. There is a little lever, may be red, just between the feet of child that allows you to loosen or tighten straps from that point.
If you are really in a predicament, call your local public health office, they may have a print out of a generic seat that this is done for.

Push the harness anchors, harness straps, buckle tongues and chest clips back through to the front of the seat. Once the straps are completely pulled back through to the front of the seat, make sure the straps are not twisted by clipping the chest clip together and buckling the buckle tongues, then feed the metal anchors through to the bottom of the seat and clip anchors back into place. ********************************************************************* If you have an adjustment strap that is located in between the child?s foot area that allows you to loosen and tighten the straps please follow the following steps: Loosen the harness straps by pressing the harness release button that is located between the child?s legs near the feet area; while pulling on the harness straps from the front of the car seat near the shoulder area. Turn the car seat around and from the back side of the seat follow the straps down to the metal splitter plate, remove the ends of both straps from the metal splitter plate. Making sure straps are not twisted; hook each end of the straps back onto the metal splitter plate. There is a trick to this. All the straps are kinda connected together. The main harness is one piece, a clever clip on each of the lap section. (one on each side) needs to be removed to allow the belt to slide through the seat and cover openings. Once here the strap needs to go through the actual seatbelt buckle. Once the buckles are off you can pull the harness through the shoulder opening. The note to take here is that the harness runs through a loop on the adjuster belt (a narrower belt that runs from the back of the chair under the it to and through the adjusting fastener) Once through the loop you can pull the main harness strap free from the chair. Now the next part, depress the release clip of the adjuster and with the other hand pull this belt free from adjuster. It may require a bit of two handed work as belt nears the end. You should now have a wide belt, a narrow belt, 2x clips and 2x harness buckles. All you need to do now is remove the adjuster which usually requires the manipulation of a metal 'B' buckle which is sewn into the loop to be twisted sideways to allow it to pass through the opening. You are home free now. The cover should be elasticated around the edging and easily removed for washing.(you can also put the straps in too) Now is also a good time to just give the actual seat a good clean too. Refitting is reversal of removal. However REMEMBER and NOTE the way clips,buckles and which openings the straps went through when removing. There are usually a couple. Mark the items with a marker if you think you'll forget. On refitting you might want to put it to the next one up. (as a child grows ie. the shoulder straps should be above the shoulders when the child is seated, equally important is they must be the same on both sides.) I think there might be a couple of slots for the adjuster strap. You might want to move that one out too. Have your child seated in the chair before you start the reassembly and mark out the openings the staps need to pass through which would be most comfortable for the him/her. Good Luck.
