try these
1. use lens cleaner dvd and run it. see if it works
2. is the dvd player reading cd correctly? if so then its a weak laser.
3. still not reading any cd or dvd. it might be a weak laser.
there are actually 2 potentiometers sometimes 1 just close to the dvd lens if you open it up completely. use a very small watch ***** driver to turn the pot either left or right. a small adjustment might bring your dvd player back to life. if it still doesnt work then its time to get a new one.
john, Did you get your problem with your Jensen AWM970 solved? I have just bought the same device in an imported caravan and can't for the life of me get into the region menu??? I'm about to throw it out but because it's so large it will leave a huge hole to fill. Any help would be good. Cheers, Phil.
