SOURCE: Dual 1228 turntable platter not spinning, the motor will not turn

If the motor is not spinnig then it is probably seized. These motors are very robust and rarely need replacement parts. Remove both the top and bottom bearings, clean shaft and bearings with solvent and then fill bearings with light machine oil. The bearings have a sponge inside which will soak up lots of oil for years of trouble free use. Once reassembled, tap the bottom bearing while the motor is spinnig and the bearings will centre themselves. If the idler and it's mechanism is working ok as well then you should feel lots of torque from the from the platter when it is spinning.
