Is it my Black and Decker PS185 18 Volt Battery Charger #418352-03 or my ps145 power pack

You need a volt meter, They are cheap and it will come in handy down the road. The volt meter will tell you if your charger is the problem or the battery has went to battery heaven.

Black & Decker Cordless Drill will not charge battery

Either the charging adapter is faulty or the battery is worn out.

If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

How do you know when a black and decker battery's life is over

Normally when it will no longer hold a charge, that is, no matter how long you charge it, the battery goes flat very quickly. This happens sooner with Ni-Cad batteries than with Li-Ion.

Will 18 volt black & decker charger over charge battery

Hello Howard, There are two different kind of cordless drill chargers. One is a smart charger that will not overcharge your battery. It usually has a stand alone base that the battery plugs into and sometimes may have a red and/or a green light to let you know it is charged. This charger will stop charging when the battery is fully charged after an hour or less. The other one is a dumb charger that can overcharge your battery if left on the charger too long. This charger usually has a square or rectangular transformer that plugs directly into your wall receptacle. This charger may take up to eight hours to fully charge your battery and will continue to charge until you unplug it.

What would be the easiest way to change the voltage on a black n decker 18 volt battery to 12 volts? I will be using both voltages to run my application.

no easy way to change voltage
if you try to run an 18 volt tool with 12 volts, it just will not work may as well just throw a flat battery in it and pretend it is working

The drill has stopped charging up. No obvious

It may be the charger, but most likely the battery can no longer hold a charge. This may happen if the battery drops below its holding charge. Example, left discharge for a couple months. There is little that can go wrong with a charger unless you start smelling burnt plastic from it.

When do i know when the battery is chagered

On most chargers the light will flash when it is charging and stop flashing when it is fully charged. It may also have 2 lights that indicate when it is charged. Or it may have a yellow light that turns green when it is charged.

Green light stays on when charging the red light does not come on

The battery is dead, and the charger will not not charge it. You need to purchase a new battery.

if you have one check the battery and charger with a meter. if there both fine check the prong's on the battery and the power tool. if charger is'nt charging check the fuss in the charger.. good luck let me know.

Charger not charging have 2 new chargers neither 1 will work for black& decker 18 volt cordless

You should probably contact Customer Service regarding this. I'd say it's a problem with the batteries rather than the chargers considering this looks like a recent EPC model - 1800 444 224
