How do I use the mini USB port on my Jensen universal docking station for iPod model 185

Try removing all the USB devices in Windows Device Manager with the laptop docked. To do this: Right-click My Computer, left click Manage. On the right side of the window, click Device Manager. On the right side, click the + sign next to USB Devices. Highlight each device under this heading and hit Delete on your keybaord to remove all the devices in order. Then right-click Computer at the top of the list and click Scan for Hardware Changes.

Hopefully Windows will re-detect your USB devices and get them back operational.

The older ipods charge using 12v, the newer ones (including the Touch 2nd gen) use 5v. So a lot of docks that will charge a nano will not charge a new Touch. If a dock says it will work with the iPhone then it will work with the newer iPod Touch (2nd gen).
If you have an old dock and want to charge a new Touch (sounds like the case here) then you can get an adapter. Scosche makes one just for this.

for this kind of unit HTS8100 that comes with htd7001 it can only play some ipod. for instance if you want to play music you can use ipod nano but if you want to play video you need to use ipod 4th and 5th generation. because there's compatible issue with this unit because ipod was released after this unit (hts8100) was released

Ensure that

Ensure that on Thinkpad you have selected between external monitor and buit in display. I think the button combination is fn+F7 check also the rest of function buttons.



Important NOTE: Ensure that video and keyboard drivers are installed, working and up to date. If video or keyboard drivers are not working you will not be able to use the external video port.

If all the above does not work, you can test the docking bay port using a multimeter set on Ohms on the contact in the two video socket portss in the docking bay. Id the connection is good there must be continuity (zero or low Ohms) in the correspondent pins between computer side and monitor side DVI socket.
