Question about Hayward Pool & Spa

I have a new H400FDN Hayward pool heater and do not know where to connect the incoming power - 2 black and 1 green. The service manual does not show where to connect. Please help.

My Hayward H400FDN heater will not switch out of "STANDBY" mode when I press the mode button. Any Ideas on how to fix?

Try resetting it by turning off the breaker that supplies power to the heater. This should be located in the power box at the pool equipment. It is probably a 15 amp breaker.

Hayward H400FDN won't stay lit

It is probably not sensing flame. You either have a clogged orifice underneath the flame sensor and you probably need to have the gas pressure assessed, meter size and gas valve pressure adjustment. These heaters need 2" wc of gas pressure.

Smoke or vapor coming from new h400fdn hayward pool heater.

Not at all uncommon. New heaters have to glaze over the file tile in the burner chamber and will often smoke and smell during the first week or so of operation.

Using a mirror, check to see that your flames are about 4" proud of the burner tubes when running. As long as they are and the color is a nice blue with little to no yellow/orange color, the heater is fine.

I just installed a new Hayward H400FDN and it will not stay lit.

I had the same issue...you don't have enough gas pressure.
