If the cord will not pull the tiller head is jammed trying to pull the cord will just break it . You must try and free the head. Try penetrating oil on the head leave for at least an hour then try cord again if not more spray

You will very likely have to take it in to a repair service and have it fixed.
For a lot of money, unless you have a friend that can do this. Since tiller/cultivators are seldom used, they always need to be "prepped" before they are stored.
That includes squirting a bit of oil into the combustion chamber and turning it over by hand to lubricated it, both at the end of the "use season" and at the beginning of the next year "use season". Also, be certain when you store it, to tip your machine is such a fashion as to cause the spark plug to be higher than the crankcase oil supply, or the oil will seep into the combustion chamber and prevent it from starting, because oil will not compress.
God bless your efforts.

If the pull rope won't move then the engine is locked up. There are many reasons. There could be internal damage, running the engine with an improper fuel /oil mixture if it is a 2 stroke engine. It is possible the gear and the transmission that drive the tiller tines is locked up too.Disassembling the tiller will be necessary to investigate the real reason the engine will not move.

I'm unable to start my tiller. The primer pump is cracked. Could this be the problem?

Yes. Here is the parts breakdown.

http://www.alamia.us/Mantis_Parts_s/152.htm

You can get the same part at Home Depot because the bulb is very common (Echo and Ryobi, etc.). The engine is made by Echo so there are many common parts.

Whenever the mantis is to sit for a while run the carb out of fuel first. If it does sit, add a 2 ounces of 100% acetone to the fuel tank and run the tiller for a while.

If it starts but will not run reliably then watch this video and do as stated. It is not very difficult to maintain.

When started will not throttle or dies afetr a minute of running

i love the manits tiller they are very strong and dependable.....they are the same as an echo tc210 i parts will interchange.

your issue is more than likely a plugged fuel syetem, flush the fuel tank, replace the tygothane fuel lines with echo 90014 fuel line, and tank grommet, clean and rebuild the carburetor, install a new tank vent for good measure....untill should spring back to life.....hope this helps and good luck ;)

Yesterday it quit running after performing normally for about an hour. Now I cannot get it started. Motor turns over easily, but won't fire.

If you have the 2-cycle Mantis tiller, it uses the ECHO engine. ECHO warrants the ignition coil for life to the original purchaser. If you have VERIFIED there is no spark at the plug, grab you reciept and head for your local ECHO dealership. If you aren't sure where one is and need to locate a Servicing Dealer, click HERE.

Hope this is helpful,

I can't move my Troy-Bilt tiller unless it's running.

Some Troy Bilt Tillers were designed with a manual "free-wheel". If yours is a Tuffy (and maybe a Junior), you have to pull pins out of the wheels to move the tiller without starting it. The larger tillers, Pony's and Horses, had a lever to shift to release the wheels.

Mantis tiller sv-4 echo engine no spark from coil mantis 2cycle tiller i got it running tryed to start it 4hrs latter same old problem wont start, plug wet with gas wont start. coil was checked by shop...

Sounds like it's flooding either from over choking or the inlet needle in the carb is leaking. Have you removed the plug and blown out the cylinder and plug with air and then tried to restart? Be careful not to keep cranking with the choke pulled out. When it 'hits' ONE time, move the choke halfway in and crank again
