Kitchenaid double oven gas range KGRS505X keeps telling me to please make sure the stovetop knobs are in the off position then press start or off. The knobs are in the off position.

It started doing this here n there a couple mo. ago now does it a few times a day. The range is almost 3yrs old

If it takes more than 2 minutes to light then that ignitor is weak. It should be very bright. It has to draw 3.5 amps to open the valve. The valve is good because the ignitor is working the oven control is good, all it can be is a weak ignitor. It should draw 3.5 amps or have measure 37 ohms.

This indicates that there is an issue with the door latch switch assembly; if the switch tests open then the door lock assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The top oven not maintaining heat why plenty of reasons depending on age could be a weak ignitor, bad temp sensor, is the oven light on if so oven stops heating after 30 seconds any oven maintaining set point temp will brown and if left long enough burn

My oven tepteratures are not correct. They are at least 100 defree too hot?

Be sure thermocouple/temperature probe inside oven is clean of debris that may have been spilled on it. Be careful and gentle with it but you can get a piece of steel wool and wrap it around it and rub to clean it. Ok to rub end hard , just be careful not to kink thin tube going to it. Make sure it didn't get hit as well and is out of position. If that doesn't help, or no debris causing it. You may have an adjustment screw in center of oven control, behind the dial, simply pull dial off and look close down center of shaft for small slot for screwdriver. Turning it one way or other should change temperature. Please confirm make and model number and I can dig deeper if above info doesn't help. Keep me posted please.

You're right about not using the self clean option. Your oven gets up to over 800 degrees when you use that feature. You can choose to simply keep your oven wiped out, rather than self clean it. You have to light burners on stovetop with a match all the time.

The pilots for the range top are beneath the top of the range top. YOu will see them if they are there. YOu stove may use electronic ignition and you can hear the sparking when you turn the knob to the "light" position.

If it is electronic ignition, make sure the stove is plugged into an operating outlet

sounds silll but check your circuit breakers make sure both of the 2 breakers fedding this unit ar in the on positoin , itts possible youve tripped half your circuit.

Gas stovetop not igniting without matches

If the rest of the surface igniters are working, more than likely your spark module is working fine. (This is normal, by the way) I would suspect that you have a bad spark electrode at the burner in question, a bad burner switch, or bad wiring.

I found several part listings for the model number you posted this question under at repairclinic.com. You will need to provide a more complete model number in order to narrow your search to ensure you get the right part. You can find your model number on a nameplate around the oven door opening, or lower drawer opening (if equipped). Some manufacturers also place this information on the back of the range.
