When you go to print, the printer menu should have an option to print in greyscale or black and white. Selecting that will allow you to print in black and white. Don't forget to change it back to colour though when you have done.

Colour photos on my pc print out in black and white

Sounds like your photo program in configured wrong, The printer will draw it's setting from the default printer for the program and if you have the photo program set up to print in black and white then this is what the printer is going to do. Check the settings in your photo management software and see what they are

PRINTS PROBLEM

More than likely what you want is a gray scale image and not a true Black and White image. If you tell the printer to print Black and White for a photo, you will lose all the gray shades available between the black and white bookends.

Normally, you can set the printer to print grayscale only from the driver properties page.

Printing in just black and white

Epson,. has it rigged, that you must have ink in all the cartridges.............! Doesnt make a difference, if you are printing black and white ONLY.

You have to replace them.

Good Luck......

Can't print photo in black and white

Could this be the problem? From the User Guide: "Print Color images in Black and White -- Print your color images in black and white to save the ink in your color ink cartridge.
NOTE: You cannot select this setting if you have selected Color Cartridge for all Black Printing"

Dell Photo 944 won't print black and white

I had the same problem and just figured it out! On your control panel, choose printer and then Properties. Go to Printing Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. Under this tab is a button for More Options and then a section Complete-A-Print. I had to uncheck "use color cartridge for all black printing" and then check "use black cartridge to print in black and white." Then I had the option back to print in black and white. I have a Dell Photo 964 but I'm assuming the options should be the same. Hope this helps someone!

IP4000 Color Printing Problem

If you have a monochrome option, I would use that.
I'm guessing that your old black and white photo's (which I'm thinking you scanned in may have a sepia tinge which the printer is emphasizing, and if you only want black/white prints, no need to print with colour.
