One day I turned the TV on and there was no picture. You can hear the TV but there isn't a picture. I've tried the differnet inputs but still no pic. When you first turn it on there is a faint glow then nothing else happens. I've tried turn on and off the tv numerous times and a couple of times for a few seconds there was a white screen with multi-colored lines running verticle then it went black.
Then it is probably not cold solder joints. You wouldn't think that an lcd TV would need a high voltage transformer but it does. They are very small compared to CRT televisions but they power up the screen. Without it you have no backround light to veiw what is there. There are two neon lamps on either side of the screen but they rarley go bad. My guess is the transformer ot the power supply feeding it.
I recently fixed my Hitachi 42edt41a plasma tv. I had sound but no picture originally, but I replaced the y-sustain and the z-sustain boards and it works just fine now. Hopefully I can narrow it down to what components went bad, but my guess is the transformers or capacitors.

Thanks for your respose. The tv has never been moved since it was bought. I mounted it on the wall an it has been there ever since.
The high voltage transformer is probably bad or has cold solder joints on the board. Has the TV been moved arround allot?
