We have a Calligaris Seattle low media unit, damaged in removal: lacquer chipped off from drawer and long scratches to lacquer along edge. Is this repairable and ballpark cost? Thanks, Sheila
Unit is 8 years old, was in excellent condition, and is now in 3rd floor London apartment, no lift; may be relevant if repair cost would inclusive transportation to a workshop. I need some advice for insurance claim. Thank you, Sheila

It sounds like the paintwork needs inspecting by an experienced paint professional.
Could be something has penetrated the lacquer coating and is now trapped behind it.
Paint protection systems have been responsible for many such instances after attacks by tree sap or bird lime or something more mechanical in nature has damaged the surface. Often such problem-causing damage is virtually microscopic and I have a pocket microscope which has been invaluable in the search for reasons why.
If something is trapped underneath the lacquer the cure will be a bare-metal respray.
In my opinion the best paint protection system is an old-fashioned hard wax polish and lots of time and energy. It is only by applying a regular hard wax coating that the thousands of the inevitable tiny and microscopic road-damage chips in the lacquer can be kept waterproof and prevent water ingress under the lacquer and paint which causes so much damage, especially in frosty weather. It is already too late when the results of such damage become visible.
Sorry to say it but in most cases it needs to be repainted. If you want to try you can lightly sand it and reclear coat it, but if the base coat is causeint it to peal then it needs to be sanded and sealed with a good primer/sealer and repainted.
These dishwashers are very sensitive to grime collecting around the drawer edges. Try cleaning with a damp cloth by rubbing along the top edges and the sides where the drawer door sits flush with the body.
Also trun off power at the mains and then turn back on after a short wait.
I've personally been performing restoration of high end metal surfaces, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum etc., including scratch removal, polishing, regraining, lacquering etc.. Strictly commercial properties, elevators escalators etc. I've performed these services for 30 years. As a Master Finisher I developed DeBruce Polish, and still perform metal restoration personally.
pull drawer out on right side just behind outer cover there should be a area where magnet fits if can't find exact spot hold magnet along right edge of opening and turn washer own if nothing happens move magnet along right edge till it comes on glue mahnet to dispenser drawer in corresponding area
I removed all internal pieces from the drawers to make them as light as possible. Then removed the securing screws, 2 each side at lower drawers. (These secure the unit in position in its cove. Slide out bottom drawer and loosen height adjust screws each corner to lower unit and then slide out. I taped the drawers closed so they wouldn't open as I moved it. I lifted the front and put a heavy rag under the front legs which helped me draw it out. It helps if you have a second pair of hands. As you edge it out, ensure power and water supply hoses are clear of any obstructions. it's not that heavy just unwieldy. Chers, Craig from OZ.
