Can I use a remote for a hardwired Casablanca ceiling fan/light?

I have a Casablanca ceiling fan/light that is hardwired to a wall control panel. Is it possible to get a separate remote for this and program it if needed as well?

SOURCE: our casablanca ceiling fan has

If you have the intelitouch system, It's probably the circuit board in the fan. Casablanca has great motors but touchy boards. I ordered mine from www.fanmanlighting.com and installed it myself, it wasn't too difficult. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Intell-Touch instructions for casablanca fan/light

Light Operation: With the light in the off position press and hold the light button (do not let go). The lights should start at a dim setting and gradually get brighter and brighter. When they get to a setting you desire let go of the light button. To reduce the brightness of the light you must first turn the light off, and then press the light button and hold it in as described above. If the light is off, and you press the light button quickly to turn it on, the light will go back to the previous setting. So if you last had the light on the high setting, it will go back to the high setting, if you had the light at a lower setting it will turn back on to the lower setting. Keep in mind you can increase the light intensity at any time by pressing and holding the light button, but to decrease the light intensity, you must first turn the light off, and start over by pressing and holding in the light button.
Fan Operation: With the fan in the off position, press and hold the fan button (do not let go). The fan should start at a slower speed and get faster and faster. When the fan is at the speed you desire, let go of the fan button. To slow down the fan speed you must first turn the fan speeds off by pressing and releasing the fan button. If the fan speeds are off, and you press the fan button quickly to turn it on, the fan will go back to the previous setting. So if you last had the fan at the highest setting, it will go back to the high setting, if you had the fan at a lower setting it will turn back on to the lower setting. Keep in mind you can increase the fan speed at any time by pressing and holding the fan button, but to decrease the fan speed you must first turn the fan off, and start over by pressing and holding in the fan button.

SOURCE: i have a Casablanca "trident"

Hello Duke,

I'm guessing you have a "prime touch" remote control system. I'm not exactly sure whats going on but the W-505 Prime Touch receiver in the fan is the brains of the system. They sell replacement W-505 parts at Fan Man Lighting.

Hope this helps.

Casablanca Isatope 52 inch fan not working

You are exactly correct...

Power flows to the fan as soon as the circuit is closed.

All the light (diming) and motor power, speed & reverse are all
controlled by tones from the switch to a receiver inside the fan housing... (only 2 wires + ground).

I have BOTH (the old style 3 switch) and the newer 4 button "W32" ... use the same tones BUT ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE...

In my opinion
The premier site for ALL FAN switch troubles
is the "FAN-MAN" (see below).

"Ball Ceiling Fan" - hardwired wall switch only turns on or off, no speed control or light control, stuck on "high" and light "on" when switch is in "on" position.

The most likely cause (and the one I've always encountered) is the switch/controller nit wears out from electrical arcing that burns the contacts or temperature kills electronics on "soft" speed controllers

Just bought the house- it has a casablanca del mar but no remote- the wall switch does not work- can i override the remote?

Hi there,
usually remote control for ceiling fans does not have an override code like the ones available for control using a universal remote. because they are specifically designed to work with certain IR or Radio frequency signals.
Usually a replacement remote is available but you may have to contact the manufacturer to check for availability.

Casablanca fan speed problem

If this fan has a pullchain that also controls the fan speed, and you have a remote, the pullchain has to be set for the highest speed. If it is set at medium or low, it will mess with the remote operation. Note: usually high speed is the first pull after the "off" position.
