Card lock.? I have a Samsung S630 and everytime i try to take a picture a black screen comes up with card lock. it is reonably new too. It is not coming up due to the slidey thing on the actual memory card. I have tryed to unlock it by formatting it but it says again card lock. What can i do?

If you remove the card from the camera and connect the camera to your computer with the USB lead, you should see the camera's internal memory as a disk drive on the computer. If there is a memory card inserted, you will see that memory instead.

Unlocking individual pictures is done with the same function that locked them. It is probably on a menu available when you are viewing the pictures on the camera.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If your camera gives you "card locked" error messages with several cards and you KNOW that the cards are indeed not locked via the sliding lock mechanism, then your camera needs to be sent in for service as it has developed and electrical communications problem within the memory card control function.

I would first however try a hard reset by resetting your camera to the default settings, removing the battery and memory card for two minutes, and then replacing them. Retest the cards for the error message. If it still occurs then call 1-800-828-8080 for your options.

there will be a little slide lock on the side of your memory card you just need to unlock it

have you tried formatting your memory card from your camera menu? i havent seen a memory card without lock pin but you may try my advice. :)

guessing it was dropped, have a side look at the lens, its probably not straight. pull it straight gently and try again

There is a switch in the memory card, you just have to slide it upward.

If you are using a new memory card, format it first.

Do the following:
- Press Menu/ Ok button
- Go to Set Up 2
- Select Format
- Select Yes
- Press Menu/ Ok button

The card probably needs to be formatted for your camera but that will erase the pictures already on the card. Far as I know each card must be formatted to the camera for which it is to be used. Use the menu button to find format. (Last icon, "wrench2", format is toward the bottom of the list. Remember you will lose the pictures already on the card, so save them first.
