  • Here is a list of cables for your unit from Crutchfield's.

  • If your looking for the s pin DIN cable from the sub you can get that anywhere. The 8 pin DIN is a standard cord the same across the board. Here are a couple to choose from.

I have only a speaker to a jvc sp-pwm505 surround sound system. But am looking to power it using something else. Is this possible?

Yes, all speakers operate on the same principle. Though depending on the resistance of the speaker, usually 4 or 8 ohms, it may place too large a load on the source driver. Try it and see.

The subwoofer SP-PWM505 won't turn on.

Make sure its not set to Auto. Also check for a fuse in the back. Unplug the amp side and with the sub plugged in touch the RCA. You should hear noise from sub. Try this last. Some may say this is not good for the sub. Im in the business and never have seen it cause a problem

There are a few on eBay. Search for "JVC THM505 cable" and check the 'include description box'.

SP-PWM505 subwoofer does not stay on

Well i had exactly the same problem, my sub turned off right away when i turned the whole thing on. Well i opened the subwoofer and was trying to find out something unusual, i took out, i believe, internal amp, well, whatever that thing is, under the lid. Which one is screwed with 6 copper screws, so you unscrew those screws, lift that lid and that whole board comes out. On that board i find something like burn around one of the parts.

you can see it in the pick, the part q2902, then i contacted JVC. At the beginning they said i need to take the whole thing to service center and so on. But later i made them to tell me what kind of part that is, so here :http://www.jvcservice.com/store/ProductDetail.asp?Part=KTC3199/GL/-T
bought soldering gun in home depot for $15, returned after i was done. And that is it, just have to replace it, but total cost only $12 ($5 part +$7 shipping)

SP-PWM505

MOst of the time it is the jack that the cable plugs into that has the problem. .
Also the jack is not broken but HAS broken the solder connection TO the jack.
If you know someone who can safely take it apart and solder, let them try.
